Hi Carl,
My father was Darrell Cherry. He always told me he was Native American and was also from North Carolina. The name of his father was Raymond Cherry and that is all I know. I am trying to find his history of his family. They were Cherokee but he also told me that in his family was Choctaw. I am not sure of the history but am searching too. Please let me know if you find any of the following names. Raymond, Garland, Darrell. However these are all names from my fathers generation. I don't know ANYTHING about the history. He did speak a lot about Mary Long (his grandmother) who married out side of the tribe and was listed as a "rejectee" on the tribal enrollment because she married off of the tribe I think during the trail of tears when land was taken from the tribe. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Hi Deni,
My father's last name was Cherry. He was from North Carolina and used to tell me the same exact story. His Mother and father were both Native American. One Choctaw and the other Cherokee. My Grandfather died the year I was born. I don't know anything about his family. Not much. I did go to a family reunion a few times as a kid to NC to "Brown / Cherry reunion and met a cousin named Bear who said he was Cherokee. Silly girl, like you, as a child I had no real interest in asking about the family of my grandfather because I never knew him. Please let me know what you find. I am searching too for the same thing!!!!

Looking for the parents of Ellen Cherry, b. 1854 in Welland, Ont.
New Note 6
Hello there.
I've been looking up some family history over the past several months or so and I came across Ellen Cherry, my 3rd-great-grandmother.
What I know about her at this juncture is that she was born in Welland, Ont. in 1854, had three kids with a Vermonter named Clifford Eddy: one being my great-great-grandfather Lewis and the other two were daughters, named Effie and Edna. She died in 1924 in S. Dakota at about 70.
I don't, however, have much information on her parents, other than that they may have been John Cherry and Laura Stringer, at least, according to this:

I don't have a paid account on this site, btw, so if anyone has any accessible information to share, such as a census record(Canadian ones in particular!), or even a family tree, you can either send something to me via this site's messaging system, or my AOL e-mail account.....thanks in advance. =)

Thank you for responding so soon. the censes of 1940 has the name as Clailuce Cherry, on the 1930 censes it is Clarence W. Cherry. Neither show an actual birth date only a year of 1877. Both of his parents were born in Virginia also, but no names. Thanks in advance for any info you might have

The closest I see in the VA birth records is
Cherry, C. M.
Father: W. H.
Mother: Julia A.
DOB: Apr 1, 1877, Norfolk
page: 178
But this is CHarles M Cherry, son of William Henry Cherry, b. Mar 1844, and Julia Ann H. Stewart, b. 1844 in NC.
The only Clarence Cherry in my files is Clarence Virginus Cherry, b January 15, 1886, in Norfolk City, son of Virginius O. Cherry, b. 1858 and Mary Virginia (Millie) Denney, b. 1853
