Do you have any dates on that Joseph CHERRY? I've been looking for mine for 20 years!! Born 1818, in England he states on 3 censuses. However, after he died and his widow and 3 youngest sons migrated to NE, on the next census everybody says he was born in North Carolina! The mother was illiterate, she X'd Joseph's probate papers, but HER father was born in NC so the boys may have been thinking of that. Or they didn't want anybody to find Joseph! They've succeeded. He named his first two children Thomas Michael (Michael was the maternal grandfather's name) and Elizabeth Jane CHERRY. Was Thomas his father's name and either Elizabeth or Jane his mother's name? Sure would like to find out where he was born. I first find him at his marriage on 19 Aug 1841 in Alton, Madison, Illinois, to Amelia KILLION (Mealy KILHEW in the official records!!) Thanks!

Do you have any information on the parents of Joel Cherry, 1768-1848? There is a possibility his father was John Cherry, born 1749, but I have no confirmation of this.
