I assume that you have obtained info on Henry Cherry by now. There is a lot of info on the TROVE site (just Google Trove)about his life in Ballarat where he owned the Eureka Hotel, produced pork and bacon and was involved in mining interests.

I'm still looking for my Joseph CHERRY, b abt 1817 in England, have no clue where. However, he named two of his sons William and Joseph Henry CHERRY. Either of you have a Joseph? He married Amelia KILLION in Alton, Madison, Illinois, USA on 19 Aug 1841. Thanks!

Hi Wendy,
basically 2/3 of all WW1 records were destroyed in the Blitz.
There are no copies, so that is it.
How did a Silversmith join up and be dead by Jan 1915, what a waste. He died in Jan 1915 and my Dad his 2nd son was not born until May 1915.
I have been to his grave many times now and find it so sad that despite being a CWG the part of Manor Park Cemetery is a disgrace. overgrown and uncared for.
Thanks for your interst.
Regards
Pete Cherry

Can anyone on this message board trace their Cherry ancestry to Connecticut, particularly the Greenwich area in Fairfield County? I am trying to locate a Charlotte Cherry who married into the Dayton family.

There are several mentions of his on the FindMyPast website (census, military deaths, births etc) but no military file. Was he born in Guernsey?

Hi, I have been researching this Cherry family for quite a while. Have a look at my Ancestry Tree "Cherry of Bray" for full details and sources. There is a full pedigree of the Cherrys of Bray (descended from Jean de Cherie) in HISTORY AND ANTIQUITIES OF THE HUNDRED OF BRAY by Charles Kerry 1861 Google Books.
The Cherrys from Picardie were not the only Cherrys in England (contrary to assertions on numerous online trees). My own Cherry family can be traced back to 1419 in hertfordshire. I have found references to even earlier families in Ayrshire, Yorkshire and Hampshire.

John Cherry
