Hello,
I'm trying to research my mothers side of the family. Her father was Norris Leo Dangler and I know he is ralated to the Cherry Family (not exactly sure how) but names I have heard are - Betty Cherry, Elizabeth Cherry, Michael Cherry, Kathy JO Cherry, Charlene Cherry, Theresa Cherry, Josie Day (her married name) Michael Day. If any of these names are familiar or you know anything about the Dangler family I would love the help!

That is a very harsh statement to make. Aaron Cherry was not kicked out of the DAR. It is simply that someone else has proven that the service our Aaron Cherry was credited with actually belonged to another Aaron Cherry. That in no way proves that our Aaron Cherry from Texas was not in the American Revolution. I live a short distance from the cemetery where Aaron is buried, have lived here all my 74 years of life, have the records from Homer's files. You need to remember that when Homer was doing his research there were no computers, no internet, no nothing but paper and pen and stamps. The research was long, time consuming and hard at best. He did very well with what he had to work with. There are mistakes in everyone's research including my own. I strive every day to find proof to correct them, I don't try to tear down everyone else's work. Aaron Cherry is my three granddaughter ancestor, through his son John. I grew up around many of Aaron's descendants. The !
reunion was usually around March 2 on the San Jacinto Battleground by the monument.

William W. Wheatley (B 1801, NC) married Mary Ann Cherry (B 1811 NC) about 1829 in Humphreys County, Tennessee. In the 1850 census they lived in Benton County, TN. Martha Hall (B 1823, TN) and two children, Samuel (B 1847, TN) and Mary Hall (B 1849. TN) were living with William and Mary Ann Wheatley. Mary Ann died about 1863 and William married Martha Hall in Dec 1864. I suspect that Martha was a Cherry before she married the Hall, father of her children. Does anyone have any details that verify this?

Yes my mother was 15. I was raised by my grandparents. I have very little information to go off of. She told my grandparents that he was around the same age as her. I will try the yearbook idea, I never thought of that. Thanks for the great idea :-)

By subtraction, you're saying that your mother was 15 years old when you were born. How old was your father? If he was an adult, you could check the city directory for Cherry's. I'd probably check 1974-1977. If you think he was your mother's age or a little older, you could check the high school (or Junior high) yearbooks. I'd check the same dates, or maybe a little wider range. I'd check the schools closest to Plainfield first. Some may be online, or in the public library, or they might be only in the high school library.
Good Luck

I am looking for my father. I was told his name was Donald or William Cherry. My mothers name at the time she gave birth was Robin Patterson and she was from Plainfield Indiana. My name at birth was Angela Patterson and I am now 34 years old and my mother is 49. I was told he lived in Indianapolis at the time I was born. My mother told me he also had an Aunt that lived in Indy as well. I have tried on several occasions over the years to try and find him but came up empty handed.

I have seen a lot of genealogy written by your grandmother in the Decatur Genealogical Society in Decatur, Illinois. Do you have that genealogy? I work a lot on the Cherry line, which ties to the Garland Hall line and on down to my Hall/Harbarger line. If you have her genealogy, I'd love to have copies of it, and would be more than happy to pay the cost for copying and mailing!
If you do not have it, and need some information, please feel free to contact me either here or at jjjsg(a)aol.com. Jane (Meisenhelter) Griffin

I personally knew a Cherry Beda of West Chester, Chester Co. I was her Stephen Minister until she died. I know that her brother was a clergyman from the Carolinas. He did her funeral service. I believe she told me she was named Cherry to carry on the family name. I probably could find out her brother's name from chuch records. Contact me if you like.

I came across the Cherry name in a print out of the 1826 Tithe Applotment(census) of Killyman parish, which is in both Tyrone and Armagh. My relative was renting from "Thomas Cherry". Cherry's still live in Derryhirk area of Killyman parish. In 1901 Robert Cherry had 11 children living with him! They advertised in about 2000 in an Ireland travel book their B&B. I've lost that book, but believe descendants still live in that area.

Cherry and wife had 11 children in Derryhirk in 1901.Hope this is some help to you.
