There are 2 different Samuel Maund Cherrys. The first one is shown in
this chart as Sr. and he has one wife Frances Ballentine. The second
one would be Jr., shown in this chart as "Samuel 'Lemuel,'" and he has 2
wives. I believe my original source for the information was "Climbing
the Cherry Tree," supplemented by the wills for the 2 Samuels. I don't
have any more descendants of Samuel Maund Cherry, Sr. in my file.

Thanks, I know it is not the William Cherry in Beaufort since he also
listed in the 1870 census in Beaufort while my William Cherry is listed
Martin. Your William Cherry is a possiblity since I have not able to find
my William on any of the census in the area prior to 1870.

No. My information is limited to Cherry's who lived in Norfolk Co., VA.
Sometimes I can find something in a census, but you're looking for
information too early. I would suggest wills and probate record.

You have a lot of Cherry info so I'm wondering if you have anything on a
Catherine E M Cherry in North Carolina about 1805-1845. The M may be for
Martha.
Since the census did not record everyone's name then I have not been able to
find her. She was married to Dr. Warren Tillet Nobles and having children in
Pitt Co NC from 1825-1841. The only reason I know her name is because it was
recorded on tombstones of her children that died in Texas. She died before
the family went to Texas.
She is the mother of Dr Allen B Nobles of Edgecomb Co NC. He is the only
child that stayed in NC when the family went to Texas.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Lee

I can't find any information on the parents of Eliza Cherry, who seems also to be known as Nancy Cherry. I have a marriage date for Eliza and Joseph as March 1834, and a birthdate for their son Robert as June 1834. I haven't been able to confirm either of these dates, but what if Eliza Cherry was really the widow of a man named Cherry? Her daughter Martha has the middle name of Cherry and her daughter Elizabeth has the middle name of Smith. What if Eliza Cherry was really Eliza Smith, married a man named Cherry, was widowed and then remarried Joseph Carver? If anyone can shed any light on this, please contact me.

Looking for anyone as a descendant to this family.
I have a Phelps CHERRY Sr. had a son Phelps Cherry Jr.(whom married Emma J. Stanger) and they had a son George S. CHERRY.
I have found this family was a very prominent family in the later 1800's early 1900's in Manmouth county, New Jersey.
Please contact me army_sister71(a)yahoo.com and refer to George CHERRY in the subject line.
