this was found on Ebay...
This is an antique family Bible with lots of history. It belong to Alphonus Cherry and his family which lived in North Carolina. When we googled the name and Cherry Point , NC came up and we think it might have been named after this family. There are several family photos and death papers with locs of hair. The death hair locs are really unusual and date back 1893. Several of there children died and Alphonus hair loc is in the Bible, as well with his date of death. There are several other documents as well as pictures of the Cherry family.

I have am researching my Denham line which includes Cherry.
My great-great grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Cherry who married a Elbert Denham abt. 1870-80. She was previously married to a Parker when and who I do not know, however she is a Parker on her Denham marriage license and the census after her marriage indicates that she was previously married. I believe that her father may have been Wiley, but cannot confirm, however, the only Sarah E. born abt. 1849 that I have located is his daughter mentioned in 1870 census and no other info is known about her. Can any of you help me?

Hi Cal,
I am John Hart Cherry III of the Henry Cherry line.
My Great Grand Father was James William Henry Cherry oldest son of Henry Cherry.
I know you are looking for Henry Cherry's father and so am I. I would like to compare notes. I made a short trip to Orangeburg SC in 2005 with very little success.
I am also trying to locate Robert (Bob) Cherry that I think you have worked with in the past. My last contact with him was in Cristal River Florida.
I can be reached at jhcherry(a)comcast.net
Thanks,
John

James Miller married Hortensie(Tensie) Pryor Jan 17 1916. They had three children James II, Victor(b. Dec 14 1918), and Clarence(b. Feb 10 1922). There's a Victor Miller from Line Lexington Bucks Co who was born on the same date who died in 2004. His social security card was issued in West Virginia so it's possible they may be the same person.

Looking for info on the following people-- John Miller( 1888),James Miller(1890) and Joseph Miller( 1895) Last found living in Marion Co W.V.with their mother Mary and stepfather John Cherry. The two older boys worked in the mines with their stepfather. Also living with them was a younger sister Elsie or Irene (1904). I think these are the children of Marshall Miller from Fayette Co Pa. According to the 1910 pa census this is the 2nd marriage for John and Mary and they have been married for 3 years. By 1920 John and Mary have moved to Clay,Harrison W.V. but no sign of the boys. Irene Griffth is living with them listed as stepdaughter. Either John has another stepdaughter the same age as Elsie or or they change her name and she got married at 16.John Cherry died in W.V. but I can't find any records for Mary or the children
