I think our families have communicated in the past thru Roberta Byrom Abbe,
and Anne Byrom. My maternal grandmother was Clara Cherry, Ara's sister.
Clara married Luther Marvin Byrom from Awalt, Tennessee, and they later moved to
Brinkman, Okla. There, they had 7 children - the youngest was my mother.
Best wishes ...
Mike Humphrey ...

I have found another surname of Colbert.
Thank you for responding. I know someone will love to have this.

Dear Robert,
Hello, I wish I had more information for you, but I am not researching this family. I post obituaries from the local paper in hopes the information will help other reseachers.
If there is anything I can help with any of your Tennessee research, just let me know.

Thank you Jean'
It was just a shot. I have been hunting Elizabeth Thompson's parents for
some time. You never know where the breakthrough might come from. It would
have been a real find.

I'm not familiar with the State of North Carolina, except that I lived in Cherry Point as a very young girl! However, my Cherry line has gone back to Chester Co., PA, in 1765. Benjamin III was born in that year and his brother Peterson was born in 1767. When Benn II died in 1789, his young son Ben III took over as head of the family and reared his young sisters and cared for his mother. ... The brothers old their inheritance in PA and moved to Rowan County, NC later in 1790, in time to be picked up in that state's Federal Census, which lists them as the earlier PA census that year did.
In a few years, Ben and Peterson moved to Franklin County, Ga. This county was created from land just ceded by the Cherokee Nation. Benjamin IV was born here. In 1808 Ben and Peterson sold their plantations, as did neighboring William Cherry (a cousin?) and migrated across into Overton County, TN. Again they purchased 100 acres each on the banks of Thistle Carrier Creek, all having three mutual boundaries.
In 1819 Benjamin IV decided to go to the new land opening up in Illinois and settled in Sangamon County near Riverton, Illinois.
My computer is in the shop having lost the mother board and with no promises of collecting my data, but I'm almost positive the Cherrys were in several locations in North Carolina, along with Garland Hall .. whose family the Cherrys married into in later years. However, their paths crossed many times in the various states of Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina.
In my notes, I found a Darling Cherry receiving a warrant transfer in Bertie Co., N.C. Laurence Cherry was a witness. Darling Cherry of Maertin Co., N.C. later receives another Revolutionary Soldier's warrant with Eli Cherry as a witness.
Eli Cherry is found mentioned in 1856 in a warrant in Henry County, Tennesee.
Jesse Cherry was mentioned as to receiving a North Carolina warrant in Martin Co. in 1814.
Roderick Cherry received a North Carolina warrant on 15 July 1820 and later made the warrant over to Eli Cherry.
I'm sorry the early Revolutionary warrants as found in the FTM CD 511, "Early Tn. Settlers 1700-1900s, weren't very detailed as to exact locations. I hope you're able to find some names though that might help you in your search.
I wasn't successful in attaching any of them to my line. Just kept the paper.
Hi Jean'
I am very curious as to the Bible. My paternal grandmother was Elsie
Bond Cherry. Her parents were Lyne S Cherry and Frances Elizabeth Allen.
Her paternal grandparents - Thomas Cherry b. 1815 in Ohio m.Susan
Perrin, in Franklin Co OH -1836
Thomas Cherry' father was Nathaniel Cherry b.1790 in PA m Elizabeth
Thompson - 10 Sep 1812 in Muskingum Co OH
I have additional information, including names of all the children, if
this Bible could possibly be my family's and if it is, would you kindly tell
me how I might obtain it if you are willing to part with it. I would very
grateful.
Marion Jenkins Daly
