I have located my great grandmother's family in Sebastian Co., Arkansas in 1880. Her name at the time was Nannie Belle Norrid. She had a younger sister named Margaret born about 1868-69 and the Sabastian Co. marriage records list two marriages of a Maggie Cherry, one to Jasper Bealy (maybe Bailey) and one to a William T. W. Cherry. I am not sure if these marriages are the same Maggie or two differnt Maggies, but I would like to find descendants of these Cherrys and see if they know any more about this family than I do. Nannie Norrid was charged with bigamy in Fort Smith in 1885 for marrying a man named Richard Burks. She moved to Texas and was never prosecuted. Burks died and Nannie married by great grandfather William Burch. She never told anyone in the family about her past. We would like to know about her family.

I have been researching my Cherry genealogy for several years and have discovered that there is a disagreement concerning Thomas Cherry born about 1590 -1598 in England who married Ellen Pownee/Pawnee/Pawney/Pomney in about 1621. Some say his parents were Thomas Cherry and Margaret Watkins and others say his parents were John Cherry and Agnes Pratt. I have contacted several individuals whom shall remain nameless about their fact supporting who were his parents without any replies. Maybe I was a little too blount in my question and,if so, apologizeto them. But I have learned during my several years to attempt to get facts correct so am asking anyone who may have facts about Thomas Cherry's heritage to please advise me either on this message board or directly.

I'm going another way on my elusive Joseph CHERRY. Do any of the NC CHERRY genealogists have a Joseph born there abt 1817? I have Joseph saying he was born in England on 3 U.S. censuses. However, on the 1880 WI census, 6 years after he died, his two sons say he was born in NC.

Does anyone have a reliable descendancy line for Solomon Cherry, who came to VA/NC in the early 1700's I believe. Common belief is that there is a senior Solomon Cherry, who was father to the Solomon Cherry who is called "Captain Solomon Cherry". Any input welcome.

Cal, I noticed you had both Cherrys and Weavers in your search lists. I have Cherrys and Weavers in my family and I am trying to sort out a possible South Carolina connection for either or both.

This is someone apparently showing up in our geneology, to people we know, but we have never heard of him. According to the data he was born in 1922 and died in either 1987 or 1990. Conceivably could have gone under the name W.D. Cherry. Can anyone shed any light on this person?
