I am hoping someone may recognise a name here to maybe help discover what became of this family.
We have a henry John Cherry born abt1852 Northampton England - He married Annie maria (maiden name still Unknown but poss Mann) in abt 1870/71
They had a son Alfred H Cherry born in 1871 Northampton
daughter sarah Maria born abt 1872 Northampton and Caroline Amelia born abt 1875 Northampton.
Caroline and Sarah were bapt in 1879 Northampton
We now know that the family left the country very soon after that and have found the following records online
at CastleGarden.org
First name Last name Occupation Age Sex Arrived Origin Ship
Annie Cherry Wife 28 F 23 Feb 1881 England Arizona
John Cherry Infant U M 23 Feb 1881 England Arizona
Alfred Cherry Child, Youngster 10 M 23 Feb 1881 England Arizona
Sarah Cherry Child, Youngster 8 F 23 Feb 1881 England Arizona
I have a strong feeling that this is my family or at least part of it - John is not known to me but he was prob born on ship - the site however does not mention Henry the father or caroline the daughter.
Ancestry.com has this record
Henry J Cherry born abt 1852 departed London England and arrived in America on 6 Sept 1880 on the ship Egypt.
Obviouslty Henry went earlier for some reason - we still have no record of Caroline tho we know she was not in england in 1881 so she must have gone at some point.
By 1891 both Caroline and sarah are back in england and boarding with friends and relatives - no sign of the rest of the family on any later british census.
We are supposing that they stayed in the USA but so far have no proof of this
If you can help at all please get in touch
Teresa
