Mr. Parker,
If you look at the 1880 Winston County census Joseph is listed incorrectly as I.H. possibly due to poor penmanship. He is shown with wife Louisa (this would be Kinard). Children in the household were: Jane, Robert, (these were two of the children he had with Matilda. Also listed are George W. and Eugenia Kinard(Eugenia of course is Louisa's daughter by previous marriage), and Lewis age 3 months.
Joseph was married to Curianne Archer (2nd wife) after the death of Matlida. He and Curianne had 1(one) son named George Washington Cherry born Feb 01, 1871. It is beleived that Curianne died during childbirth. Following this marriage is when he marrried Louisa Kinard in June of 1871. Louisa raised George W. I know that Joseph and Louisa Kinard had a daughter named Mary Jane born May 31, 1876 and died Juny 23, 1877. It appears by the census that Lewis would have been the child of Joseph and Louisa.
I am the granddaughter of George Washington Cherry. I have his death certificate and other information on this side of the family. George was 1/2 brother of Robert Huey(son of Joseph and Mitilda) and Father of Onie, Edie and Lynette.
I have also come across an old letter in my Father (Robert T. Cherry) files from you dated 1/08/01. I am sorry my Father did not correspond but he is not much in writing. I have just started my research, but I do have some information from my Father you may be interested in. He is the son of George W. Cherry and Gatsie Clarenda Livingston Cherry.
Please feel free to E-Mail me.

Cora Pegues was the second daughter of James Johnson Pegues and Susan Blair in Yalobusha County, MS. J.J. Pegues re-married in 1866 and had a third daughter, Olive, my diect line. I have some evidence that Cora married a Cherry. In 1913, shortly after Olive Pegues Garland's death, a Susan Cherry is noted in the Water Valley paper as visiting her "uncle" John Armes Garland.

I have been searching for data on Josaeph H. Cherry for about 5 years and have the following information:
He was born about 1818 or 1819 maybe in Hardin County Tn. and his parents could had died when he was quite young. John Cherry staed in an email message to me several years ago that he may have had two brothers [Joel & Franklin]. Joseph may have been bound to Wallace Wood until the age of 21 [this per John Cherry from TN court records]. He came to be in Winston County Mississippi at the time of the 1870 census and was listed as 52 years old. He had three of his childern in his household at theat time [Mary, Robert and William]. He married Matilda "Mary" Cherry. daughter of David and Nancy Cherry & perhaps a distant cousin in 1845. He . Mary and six childrern are also listed on the 1860 Winston County census. In 1880 he is listed again in Winston County census with his new wife, Louisa Kinard, whom he wed in about 1871 after Mary's death. He was listed as 61 at that time.
His son Robert Huey married Louisa Frances Prisock about 1880 and one of his children Lynette Neely Cherry was my Grandmother.
I need any information anyone has on Joseph Cherry's early life, who his parents were or could have been, were Joel and Franklin his brothers and what happened to them. I will gladly share any and all data I have on this family. I would appreciate any information you may have on this family/person.
