I am helping Royce Broussard in her project to have Aaron Cherry's gravesite on the Daniels Ranch outside of Romayor, Texas declared a historical gravesite and cemetery through the SAR.
The SAR is requesting additional documentation for Aaron Cherry, Sr's military service such as copies of his pension papers, etc. Due to recent health problems, I am unable to locate or obtain copies of this documentation .
If anyone has copies of this documentation or any other documentation proving his military history that they will share in the effort to obtain the honor due our ancestor preserving his place in history, it would be tremendously appreciated.
If you have any records that you will share, please email them to <jimair(a)ev1.net>. I will give credit that you are the one that provided the necessary information and documentation. I will also post a message, if and when his gravesite is declared a historical gravesite so that all ancestors of Aaron Cherry will be able to attend the ceremony if they so desire.
Also, due to my recent health problems, I have unsubscribed from the Cherry mailing lists, so please either reply to this message or contact me at my email address <jimair(a)ev1.net>
Thank you so much for any and all assistance with this very important project.
Now I need some additional assistance for my personal research. I would like to find more info on Aaron Cherry's trip down the Ohio & Mississippi rivers. I would like to find documentation or info on the women who traveled with them, especially if Honor Cherry (his sister) was with the party or if anyone has knowledge of how she arrived in Texas. I have solved one mystery in my family history, some researchers show her born in Ireland. This could not be possible, I have found land records for their maternal grandfather, Luke Emlem in Virginia, their mother, Rachel Emlem was born in and married their father Thomas Cherry, Sr in Virginia.
Thanks for any assistance in piecing this puzzle together,
Barbara

Thanks so much for the info. Yes,I'm sure it's possible Jane died and he remarried. The names of Caroline's siblings and dates match, although your list shows more siblings. I have a copy of Caroline's marriage certificate showing her mother as Ann. Do you have any info on when or who from the family came to Canada and when. Caroline was married in Canada in 1898, when she was 20. I found a Cherry on a passenger list for 1894 aboard the ship "New York." but not sure it is her. Shehas been ahardonetoresearch. She is my great grandmother, and I met her a couple times, but she died when I was 5. Any thing you find would be greatly appreciated. Are we related in some way? Lorraine

William Cherry - The children he has on the 1881 census Re- Alice 1870 and Frederick 1874 are to a mother Jane and not Ann on the Pirton Parish records Alice Cherry Ch 30th Nov 1870 to William and Jane Cherry , Frederick Cherry Chr 20th Feb 1874 to William and Jane Cherry.
William Cherry aged 20 married Jane Throssell aged 19 on the 27th Feb 1870 at Pirton His father was James her father was Charles Throssell.
Now we also have William Cherry and Ann having children at Pirton - Jane Cherry Ch 11 th Oct 1876, Caroline Cherry Chr 6th Oct 1878, Sarah Cherry Br 29th May 1883 and Chr 2nd Sep 1883, Ruth Cherry Br 2nd Sep 1885 Chr 8th Aug 1886 and Bertram Cherry Br 27th May 1888 Chr 5th Aug 1888.
You also have William Cherry aged 24 Married Ann Thrussell aged 24 at Pirton on the 18th Sep 1875 her father was Thomas - no father for him .
William Henry Cherry aged 22 married Sussannah Trussell aged 23 on the 9th Dec 1871 his father was William and her father was Thomas .
Could it be that Jane died and William remarried it would still be right as the census goes the two older children are still his children ?
If you would like I will still keep a lookout for your line as my lines are also at Pirton and I have the vital records which have Pirton on them.

display there?
I have a great great uncle, who went west (Arizona or Arkansas) had a

Would that be possible?
Thanks very much

I did a search on World Connect and found it. i.e., "Descendants of Robert Saville" and "Coltrain/Coltrane Master Tree". My original file was from Family Tree Maker, vol., 7, 1600 to present CD.
I would like to see what you have on Margaret Cherry and her ancestors.

I was worried when I saw those titles that one or both of them might be a
Halberts book.
As previously mentioned a Google search will turn up all kinds of information
on Halberts books.
A good article to read is by respected geneologist Dick Eastman. Add his name
to your search.
Copies seem to surface from time to time.
Don't waste your money on those books.

The World Book of Cherrys is a major scam by Halberts publishing who
didn't even have an office where they used to collect their mail. The
postal service put them out of business. One or two others have
attempted the same thing and are probably shut down, too.
The World Book of (your surname here) is merely a listing from the
telephone book of all the people in the US with listed telephones,
generally several years out of date. The offers for the book are sent to
all the people on the list for a "list" price of $39.99, with
prepublication orders at $29.99. It looks (from what you've written
here) that the referenced book may also have a listing of easily found
people who immigrated to the US, probably from Filby's or one of the CDs
called "immigration records" which I believe is nothing more than copied
from Filby's, which is in any decent library.
Someone bought one of the books for my grandfather. It had a very
general section on how to search for your family, much less information
than is readily available at www.rootsweb.com, www.cyndislist.com, and
even www.familytreemaker.com.
Try putting Halberts and "world book" in any search engine and you'll
find more information on their scam.

Hi Listers,
I was told by a "recently discovered" distant cousin that he heard that there
were two publications that were related to the Cherry surname.
A Thelma Cherry of Ohio informed him of a book called the World Book of
Cherrys which included individual Cherrys who immigrated to the New World
beteen the 17th and early 20th centuries.
The other involved a Sharon Taylor who told him of a book called the
Who's Who of the Cherrys of America.
Does anyone know of these publications? Are they available for purchase?
Cheers,
Ray FitzGerald
