Yes, I'm glad to see someone connect to our ggrandfather.
George F. was also in Civil War, if you haven't looked up his records, they are on line, as well. I will contact you by email with some more information. But we were told all of our life and my dad's and aunt's that George F., the sheriff was our ggrandfather, married several times, widowed and lots of children. Your Thomas must be one of them. My gfather (Lawrence or Lorenzo) Dowe Cherry was one of last children.
George F.'s father is Lemuel from N.C., also told to family. And on these census', you will find him, appears to be one born in 1810, married to Rebecca Dean. George F. was born in 1835 in Ga.

my great grandmother was an Emma Mizell although from the dates I doubt the same. She married G. H. Randle in 1858. Her daughter Maud married Cullen Bryant Cooper, who fathered Fred Cooper my uncle and Peyton Graham Cooper, my father. Any chance these are the same Mizell? Linda Cooper Kirkpatrick

I am ggranddaughter of Elizabeth Ann (Sego/Seago) Ray who is daughter of ? Cherry..
They are all buried in Duncan, OK
John Alfred Ray husband to Elizabeth Ann and ? Cherry.
I have a lot of info on the Sego/Seago line, but just now getting into the Cherry line.
Also have pix of Elizabeth Ann and John Alfred (both lived into their late 90's. I was told by my father, that surname Sego was Basque). They were married (and I presume lived in or around) Lauderdale County, AL.. Perhaps the Cherry families did too.
Might check in MS too as people from there were married in Lauderale Co. AL (across the river from Iuka, MS)
Maybe we're related? Anxious to hear from you.. you may e-mail me at edunderwood(a)earthlink.net..
Warm regards

MSN mail is having a problem with Rootsweb servers. Hopefully it will be fixed in the short term, but even resubscribing will not achieve anything at the moment.
MSN is speaking to the staff at Rootsweb about it and hopefully they can discover the source of the problem and correct it. Remember the archives, you can visit and check with what message have been sent. You should still be able to leave a message on the message board, which will be gatewayed to the list.
If I can assist, please email me,

I have searched for several years for my g g grandmothers name. I know she married James Madison Kennedy and I was told that she might have been a King (Sarah E). I have a picture of her and have been to her grave in Oakway SC.
I found a posting that said she was Sarah E. Cherry the daughter of William Cherry and Sarah Lewis. I am very interested in finding out more about the Cherry family and trying to confirm if this posting is correct.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Additional information to 1998 posting. Using 3 Wisconsin, USA censuses, I've figured my husband's great grandfather Joseph CHERRY's birth to be Aug/Sep of 1817 in England. I've also been told there were CHERRYS and HIRDS in Yorkshire, England "down the road from each other", but Joseph was not listed in that data base. He married Amelia KILLION, b 1823 in Indiana, USA. Her father Michael KILLION b 1779 in North Carolina, mother Nancy DONOHEW/DONOHUE, no further on her; they were married in Clark Co., Indiana in 1819. Joseph and Amelia KILLION CHERRY'S children:
Elizabeth Jane CHERRY, b 1842 in Illinois, mar John HIRD.
Thomas Michael CHERRY, b 1845 in Illinois, mar Elizabeth WILLIAMS;
Mary Ann CHERRY, b 1847 in Wisconsin, possibly mar John SMITH (son of my husband's gr grandparents Davidson and Mahala Merrell WEST SMITH);
Agnes Amelia CHERRY, b 1849 in Wisconsin, mar Edwin John (Ted) WILLIAMS;
Joseph H. CHERRY Sr., b 1851 in Wisconsin, mar Mary Richards WILLIAMS;
Sara Maria CHERRY, b 1854 in Wisconsin, mar 1Samuel WILLIAMS, 2John Burres/Burrows, 3Edwin John (Ted) WILLIAMS, (sister's widower);
John Willliam CHERRY, b 1856 in Wisconsin, mar Alice Mary WATTS in Nebraska;
George Washington CHERRY (husband's grandfather), b 1863 in Mifflin, Iowa Co., Wisconsin, mar Margaret (Maggie)SMITH (granddaughter of Davidson SMITH) in Nebraska.
After Joseph CHERRY'S death in Wisconsin in 1874 (buried Mifflin Cemetery, Iowa Co.) widow Amelia, sons John, George and widowed daughter, Elizabeth CHERRY HIRD, migrated to Box Butte Co., Nebraska; later moving over to Custer, Buffalo and Sherman Counties in that state. Any connection appreciated. Change of address to:
