Caroline was born in MS November 18, 1849. Her parents were both of Kentucky. Caroline married Thomas Edwards Adams of Louisiana and they raised their family in Texas. According to the 1880 Texas census, District 130, Navarro, Texas the household contained: Thomas, Caroline, Margarett, Emma and Keene. Keene married Commodore Milton Collier in 1900. Any information on the Cherry or Adams families would be helpful.

There will be a meeting in study room at the library to discuss aspects of
World War II, veterans and their families and the general public are invited
to the meeting to dig up history and discuss the histories of our ancestors
and the participation and their contributions to this War.
My father was Airborne among the first with the 82nd, I would like to
discuss all areas from Pearl to the European Theatre of Operations
The invasion of Sicily and the War in the Pacific. Hope to see you there. If
there are any Veterans and survivors of this period of time come share your
wisdom and tell your story of the valor and courage it took to win this
War.I am terribly interested in the men and the women that served in the
armed forces. Also the stories of the people that lived in the United States
and worked in factories and/or the children that grew up in that great era.

In case you haven't heard... the entire 1880 U.S. Census is now online for
free access at the LDS website, www.familysearch.org They also have the 1881
British and Canadian census online as well. These are searchable databases
that include every name, not just head of household. Wow! That was a big
job!
You'll find a link to the censuses on the left-hand side of the main page.
Once you find the individual you're searching for, you can view the entire
family by clicking on "household" on the upper right corner of the page.
After pulling up the household, you can click on "previous household" or
"next household" to view the neighbors.
If you haven't already been there, go have some fun! I sure am!!

My gg grandfather was Frank D Cherry (believe to be Franklin Darling Cherry). He was born between 1863-1865 and died somewhere around 1918 (not to sure on this point). He married Mary Eliza Nix (1871-1958) 9/5/1889 in Chilton County AL - - this is very close to your Dallas/Hale counties (in fact Chilton County was formed in 1870 from parts of Dallas, Autauga, Perry and Bibb counties I believe. I do not know who his parents were. I did see some speculation on one of the boards that his father was Jesse whose father was James. Unfortunately I cannot locate this information again.
Thanks,

I note in a marriage announcement in the Reedsburg Times, May 10, 1905, Joseph A. Duddleston and Elizabith A.(Rose) Allen (my GGgrandmother) it mentions they were married at the home of Wm. H. Dan,
Thanks for this information on Ralph Cherry's family. He is in my family file.
I can take you back with the Cherry line to Thomas Cherrie b 1393 in Plymton, Northhampton, England, although most of it is not documented. He is presumed to be my 17th great-grandfather. If you would like to do some searching on this line just let me know, and I will send what information I have.

Message Board Post:
I have determined that my GGG-GF is William J. Meeks, Sr., he was born on March 2, 1800, in Fairfield County, Ohio and died on 9/8/1875 in Fulton County, Ohio.
William J. Meeks was married to Rachel Carr in 1819, Rachel was born on 12/17/1798 in Fayette County, PA and she died on 8/15/1884 in Fulton County, Ohio.
I have, by process of elimination, established that William J. Meeks' father was Joshua Meeks, who is present in the Northwest Territory. Joshua Meeks moved there in 1799 and was there until he died in 1801. Joshua Meeks, along with Ralph and Jeremiah Cherry signed a request in 1799 and in 1801 to be granted Northwest Territory land, in what became Fairfield County in 1800.
I have documentation that Joshua Meeks, Ralph, and Anne (Meeks) Cherry moved to Ohio from Westmoreland County, Pa. I also have documentation that Anne's father was Jeremiah Meeks and her mother was Sarah and that they were originally from Va.
Information from the book:
Pioneer Period and Pioneer People
of Fairfield County, OH by CML Wiseman.
Anne Meeks wife of Ralph Cherry:
b. June 17, 1750 d. 9/27/1822
Father: Jeremiah Meeks
Mother: Sarah
Husband: Ralph Cherry b. July 10, 1744 d. 7/22/1820
had lived in Westmoreland County, PA
Married 10/10/1765
(Ralph's Parents are Thomas and Rachel Cherry)
Ralph and Annie's Children:
Moses Cherry b. July 10, 1766 d. 1/1/1782
Jeremiah Cherry b. July 24, 1772 d. 8/16/1801
Wife: Elizabeth Meason
(Her Parents-John Meason and Hannah(FROST) Meason)
Children:
Ralph Cherry, Jr. B 2/23/1795
married Ruth Martain- d.1826
and married Mrs. Sallie Comer
daughter of John and Elizabeth Bear.
Sarah Cherry b. May 14, 1797
married George Bear in 1816
and moved to Allen County OH (Van Wert, OH area)
John Meason Cherry b. March 16,1800
Rachel Cherry b. January 17, 1774
Husband: Isaac Meason (Son of John and Hannah Meason)
Married in 1794
Several Family Members are buried in the
Old Wells Cemetery, at Hooker, in
Fairfield County, Ohio.
I received a copy of Jeremiah Meeks
information from the Register of Wills
and Clerk of the Orphans Court (Greensburg) in
Westmoreland County, PA.
Volume A Page 41 Year 1783
It is typed exactly as written including
spelling, capitalization and punctuation.
This can be used as documented information.
----------------------------------------------------
Jeremiah Meeks
Deceased
Memorandum - that on the twenty second day of October
in the year of our Lord. One thousand Seven hundred
and Eighty three. Letters of Administration of all
and Singular the Goods and Chattels. Rights
and credits, which were of Jeremiah Meeks,
late of Westmoreland County Deceased, were
granted to Ralph Cherry, the said Administrator

at or before the twenty second day of November
next and is to make a true and just accompt
calculation and Reckoning of his said
Administration, on or before the twenty second
day of October next. Ensuing the State hereof.
-----------------------------------------------------
This establishes the correct date of death for
Jeremiah Meeks, as 10/22/1783. He is the father of
Anne (MEEKS) Cherry, wife of Ralph Cherry, Sr.
It also proves that he died in Westmoreland County, PA.
This Jeremiah Meeks is the same Jeremiah Meeks that
owned land on Montour Run and sold it to Alexander
McCandless on 5/1/1779. (As Written below)
Jeremiah Meeks of Yough. Co, Va. to
Alex. McCandless, Sr. & Jr. land on
Montuers Run. May 1, 1779
Jeremiah Meeks wife's name was Sarah.
Other information:
I have found Isaac Meeks, Jeremiah Meeks (Yough Co. VA) Ralph Cherry, Isaac Meason and Joshua Meeks together in the area of Westmoreland County, VA and Westmoreland Co. PA and later Fayette County, PA.
I would appreciate information on any of
theses people and their family branches.
Thanks,

There is a new virus/worm out, which is forging the From: and Subject lines with Rootsweb Prepend ie, [Howard-L]
Rootsweb does not send out attachments and this virus is not coming from Rootsweb. My first suggestion is that you update your virus software today.
If you receive an email like this, delete it-
If you use Outlook or Outlook express, before you delete the email, make sure you are not in Layout view.
One easy way to see if it is a virus: it will be over 50 KB as opposed to the usual email from Rootsweb 5 - 7 KB.
Be very careful of email attachments with the .scr, .pif and .exe endings
One I received this morning had a name I was not familiar with, including a Rootsweb heading and also a Rootsweb Web page plus the virus attachment that was .scr
No further discussion of this virus should go to the list, thank you.
Be careful out there!
