From this information, it appears that your William and James were about the
same age as my William Anderson Cherry. However, it is clear from the
information that you gave that your William and my William Anderson are not
the same person.

Now that was just about rude. I've haven't seen a board yet where people complained because of additional information that people gave. You might have asked the question on that thread but we can answer an reply to any part of your post or to any other post under any thread whether the main post applies or not. I didn't see anything wrong with his post in reply he did have a reply to your NC Cherokee question but also added additional info, there is nothing wrong with that and I have the right to post to his no matter if it is under yours. So be nice or don't post at all.

My g.g. gf's name was James, his brother's name was William. They both were born in N.C. James was born between 1812 and 1814 and William between 1814 and 1820 (we believe).
Both James, William and Mary (we believe Mary is James and William's mother) Cherry are on the 1850 Wilkinson County, GA census. James and William are on the 1860 Wilkinson County, GA census.
My g.g. gf James was married to Louisa Frazier on April 30, 1835, and they had 4 children, Nancy William, Caroline and James C. (my g. gf). Louisa must have died as he then married Mrs. Mary Haywood on August 27, 1850 and they had one child, Lenorah. He then married Mary Collins on September 7, 1855 and they had one child, Henry S. Cherry.
My g.g. uncle William married Permelia Frazier and they had 7 children, Frances, Sally(ie) A., Nancy A., Rena, William and Margaret. In the 1850 Wilkinson County, GA census, Permelia's sister, Martha Frazier was living with them.
My g.g. gf James' children William and James C. (my g.gf) were in the civil war and William was killed in Jonesboro, GA.
Mary was 64 in the 1850 Wilkinson County, GA census and head of her household. She had a 42 year old female living with her, Silvie Cherry, who we aren't sure if she was James and William's sister or another relative living with Mary or a servant.
Any information that can be given on our relatives would be greatly appreciated as we are hitting a wall when trying to find them in N.C. and see who their father was or if there were any other brothers and/or sisters.
Thank you.
Linda

Their were some "genealogists"??? in past years that for a price would work up your family genealogy and of course to give your your moneys worth would throw in some extras to justify their price.Everybody was happy? Except later family that really starts to dig into the family genealogy and figures out that that poor boat equipped to hold a hundred??? people came across the seas with thousands of alleged passangers.. A couple of times a year i have some mailins that wants to sell me a book on my family genealogy. They are so far off base that it is laughable.

I heard about the Mayflower Cherry also, but haven't found any info in all the Mayflower websites and published info about a Cherry whether a servant or other. Maybe I'll have to dig a little deeper. I also read, somewhere that seven Cherry brothers came over at the same time? Is that so? Shelly

I was using the term boat figutively to indicate my ancester cherry came over in the early 1600's to Virginia and then later to North Carolina .Many of them spread out throughout the united states and of course many mor cherrys came over after in the 1700,1800 and right to present day.You will find many many cherrys in england today. Here is a site to check out for tracking the cherrys. Go in to the past posts as their is a wealth of information their. http://genforum.genealogy.com/cherry

What was the name of the Boat? I have never found the Cherry name in any of my spellings on a boat. Would love to know the source and name spelling. Thanks, this has been my brick wall for sometime.

The Cherry name came from England to the U.S. in the early 1600's ,1700,1800's and even into the 1900's.Before that the name originated in Normandy now part of france.early 1100 or before. Some Cherrys do have indian blood in them but not all.My mother and aunt claimed cherokee blood but researching all the way back to the boat i cannot find any family connection.
Hi Lynn,
YES, YES, YES your information is of great interest Cousin.
Henry & Caroline (Sherwood)Cherry had three children born in Ickford. George
Arthur*, James, & Charles. Then two children Alice & Clara in Oxspring,
Penistone, Yorks.
George Arthur Cherry, married Lucy Agnes Mitchell. Their children are
Arthur Mitchell, Archibald, Victor, George, Ida, Lawrence, Fred, Percy*, &
Reginald.
Percy Cherry, married Alice Maude Thorpe. Their children are
Roy Claude*, Rex Aubury, Barry, Clifford, & Brenda
Roy Claude married my mother Margaret Ann Allen. They had me then Divorced.
You have information that goes back further than I have and also you have
helped clear up a small! hicup with Henry & Caroline's wedding cert. I have
been wondering for some time if I had the correct one as it showed Henry's
father as being Henry and not James as thought. As well as his date of birth
being diferent.
Do you have any information on an Eliza Cherry. She was a witness at Henry
and Caroline's wedding.
I wonder if the James I thought was Henry's father, and Henry could be
brothers. As I have James's birth date as 1810.
I have other information on Henry's decendants that I am willing to share.
Also feel free to visit our web site (under construction and revision) and
sign the guest book. Have you any sources, certificates, photo's etc. We
would be willing to pay for copies and the mailing costs.
Good hunting

Hi Doreen and listers,
I have just got to my gene-mail so am a little behind.
I would like to confirm the dates, as my CHERRY's also come from
Oxford/Buckinghamshire. In particular the Chilworth/Albury/Ickford/
Worminghall/Gt. Milton area. And I have a Henry born 1838, but married to a
Caroline Sherwood, with him moving to Penistone York's between 1871 and
1880. So I don't think it's the same one, however there may be a connection
(cousins).
My Henry's parents were James Cherry & Martha Tyrrell
I would be interested if there is a connection, or if you have any
information on this family.
