I have a Franklin Cherry born in Chattooga County, GA near Lookout Mountain
where the TN, AL, and GA borders meet. He was born about 1863, and I have it
reported that he was the son of William Anderson Cherry. However, I do not
have a Joseph listed as a brother.
John Cherry
I am still looking for the parents of Nancy Manning who was married to
John Thomas Cherry. Pitt Co. North Carolina. John died in 1822
Any information will be geatly appreciated.

I have a Joseph Cherry born in 1818 in Hardin Co. as a
son of Isham Cherry and Silvah Harrell with two
siblings, Jesse and Noel. My husband is descended from
Noel. I don't have proof of this relationship of
Joseph being his son but that is a probable because of
the years of birth of the siblings and all being in
Hardin Co. TN. If intersted in more, please email me,
the line I have goes from Thomas De Che'Rie (Cherry)
from France in the 1390's in to England in the 1400,
1500 and 1600's then into VA in the late 1680's then
into North Carolina in the 1700's then with Noel
Cherry into Hardin Co. TN in the 1830's. Does anyone
have this line? Would love to hear from you. Shelly

Jerome, Hardin Co, TN sounded familiar for CHERRY's so I checked my
information and found what I was looking for. I don't know if this will
help, but will pass along in hopes it may give you some clues.
I am also looking for my LILLY ancestors and in so doing found a Noah G.
LILLEY who married Mary Curry BARNETT 1807 Smith Co, TN. Most of their
children were born in Hardin Co, TN. Two of his children married into the
CHERRY family.
Margaret LILLEY b 1808 Smith Co, TN d 1840 Hardin Co, TN. Married Noel
CHERRY and 2nd to Samuel WATSON.
Nancy LILLEY b 1810 Rutherford Co, TN married Jessie CHERRY.
Noah LILLEY was listed in the 1820 Hardin Co, TN census.
Good luck.
Vicki
Jerome, sorry I don't have much information on Joseph H. CHERRY. I believe
someone on the list already mentioned that Joseph H. CHERRY's wife was
Matilda CHERRY, daughter of David CHERRY and Nancy.
I believe I received a list of Joseph H. and Matilda CHERRY's children from
another researcher. They were William, James, Mary, Francis, Sarah and
Robert.
Also I have that Joseph H. CHERRY had a brother named Franklin. Don't know
where I got that information from.
I am also a CHERRY descendant from MS. I have not worked on this family in
sometime. Could not find any information and anyone else reseaching this
line.
My ancestor was Lawrence CHERRY b 1829 NC. He married Mary EVANS and they
are first listed in the 1850 Attala Co, MS census. He seems to have lived
all his adult life in Attala Co, MS. I don't know when he moved to MS and if
he had any relatives living there.
I thought maybe he was connected to David CHERRY of Winston Co, MS, but have
not found any info to connect them.
Vicki
I have access to the Genealogy Library.com 1850 Census images for 1850
Tn and I'll check your Joseph on there and tell you what information
there is. Have you checked county probate records for him.

P. 241 of the actual census for Hardin County, Tenn, 1850, 13th Civil
District, 18 Dec 1850, line 23, Joseph "W" Cherry, age 20, Grocery
Keeper, bp TN listed in household of Thomas S Tenz? or Terry, age 28,
Merchant, bp Tn, wife Mary age 30, bp VA, children James C age 3, bp TN
daughter Martha age 1, bp TN along with Wiley S. McBride age 25 Clerk at
Store bp TN and C. ? Cason? age 22, Merchant, bp TN
So, this Joseph would have been born 1830 and is probably not your
Joseph, Jerome. There are several Cherry's in Hardin County, mostly the
11th Civil District.

Sorry to say in both WFT cd's there are no parents or children listed for
Joseph H. CHERRY. He married Matilda CHERRY, daughter of David CHERRY and
Nancy.
Vicki
Vicki,
I believe that the Joseph H. Cherry you found is the one I am looking for. The information I have is that he was born bat 1818 in Hardin County Tennessee and migrated to Winston County after 1850. He is supposed to be listed on page 906 of the FTM CD for 1850 Hardin County Index. I have nor checked that so am not sure. I picked that up from www.familytreemaker.com the other day.
I would appreciate any data you have on Joseph as I am quite certain he is my GG Grandfather. What data I have suggests he was b abt. 1818 in Hardin County, married Matilda 7/19/1845, had six children, and married Louisa Kinnard in 1871 after Matilda's death which was in 1870. Rumor is that Matilda was the daughter of David and Nancy Cherry who was a cousin of Joseph but I am not sure that is correct.
Could you share what data you may have with me? I would be very grateful and will share any data I may have on the Cherrys that would interest you. In closing I thank you for your reply and hope to hear from you again soon. I am sorry that my first message misled you on who I was looking for. Have a Good Day!!!!
Jerome

Vicki
Cheryl,
Matilda,I believe, was the daughter of David and Nancy Cherry and a cousin. Does tree #4983 records support this fact or are her parents not David and Nancy? I would appreciate any data you may have on either Matilda or Joseph. Tracing my Cherry ancestors has really been difficult for me living in Oregon with the data in Mississippi and Tennessee.
Thanks so much for replying and your help. Are you a Cherry descendent also?

I checked out tree #4983 for Joseph H. Cherry and there are no parents or
siblings listed. This family tree is on her line. Was there anything else
you wanted here. I noticed that he married a Matilda Cherry. Are you sure
that you have his last name correct?

Dear Nell,
I fear that you and I come off two very different branches of the family.
I have no knowledge of a relationship to Daniel Boone. Guess we will have
much to talk about when we finally get a few minutes together. Need to find
the connecting link. I'll bring a pedigree chart with me.. Love in DAR,
Marion
To Cherry cousins who might want to be informed who descend from HANNAH BOONE:
Hannah Boone, youngest sister of Col. Daniel Boone, and wife of 1) John
Stewart and 2) Richard Pennington, died in Monroe Co., KY on April 9, 1828.
She was buried at Mill Creek Church, and in 1920, her remains were moved to
Old Mulkey Meeting House State Park in Tompkinsville, KY.
The Mulkey State Park is planning some restoration. We will meet with the
state park site manager on March 28 to do some planning. It would be great
if we, as descendants, could place a larger, nicer monument for HANNAH BOONE
STEWART PENNINGTON in the park. Her old stone is broken and repaired.
Look forward to your response if you would like to be included in this
project.
