Sorry, didn't mean to upset anyone. I was very interested in the site, but
couldn't get the link to work. I had to physically type it in. I use full
screen email, so the link wasn't too long as Susan suggested, the problem
was by the link being underlined, the underscore wasn't reading through. I
have a large machine, and use IE5.0 so I know it wasn't my system, plus I
have very internet and computer literate. I do this for a living...computer
programming, etc.
Sorry again, for the upset, just wanted to view the site.

Hi Danny,
Thankyou very much for that information on Chilworth. I see on your list of
Cherrys from Thame, a George baptised on Dec 11 1844, and born to Francis
and Anne Cherry. On the 1881 census records for my family of Cherrys at
Southwark, there is an additional George, aged 37, born at Chilworth. The
dates fit-so there's a possibility there. I'll let you know if I make any
further progress.

Is anyone researching Cherry's in Ireland.
Ours is Bridget Cherry born Ballinasloe, Galway.
Married Michael O'Connor in Co. Clare.
Lived in Clare until her death sometime before 1857

Hi Danny,
The 1881 Census states that my Henry Cherry was born in Chilworth, Oxford.
I can't see a Chilworth in Oxford on a modern map-only in Hants and Surrey.
I am wondering if this is a mistake, or do you happen to know of this place
name in Oxfordshire?

Hi Danny,
Many thanks for all the details of Cherrys from the Thame parish
registers. I'll have a good look at them to see if I can find a possible
link.

Looking for information about Henry Cherry Born 1710, and died 1756 in
Newton, Bucks Co., PA. He married (1) RUTH BURRAS 23 Oct 1731 in NJ. He
married (2) MARTHA WADE Abt. 1734.

Thanks Dan, I'd be pleased to have any information. I 've found in the
1881 census, (Southwark) that in the family I am researching, head of the
family, Henry Cherry, was born in Chilworth, Oxfordshire, in 1839.
Isobel
To Danny Bull,
You asked whether anyone was interested in researching Cherrys from
England.
My husband's mother's surname was Cherry, and I began to trace her
ancestor's, a few month's ago, but at that time didn't make much headway.
I have very little information at the moment, except a ? Cherry who was
born in Southwark Bridge Road, London, in 1875 . In his family there was an
Elizabeth Cherry, who remained unmarried, and a William Cherry, who
evidently fell on hard times after World War 1 and went to New Zealand. I
believe that earlier generations came from Thame, Oxfordshire, England.
After next month I hope to have more time to look more seriously into the
Cherry ancestors.
Where about in England did the Cherry ancestors you are researching come
from?

I'm afraid I can't help much on Bedfordshire or Kent roots as my researches
haven't extended that far. My Cherrys came from Bedfordshire's neighbouring
county of Bucks, my earliest known ancestor being Thomas Cherry, who married
Elizabeth Foster at Preston Bissett in 1785. I suspect he was born over in
Ambrosden in neighbouring Oxfordshire in the 1750s, but haven't been able to
find sufficent proof yet. However, if you come across any stray Thomas
Cherrys born at about that time in Beds then I'd be very interested.
Danny

My Cherry ancestors came from North Buckinghamshire, mainly the villages of
Chetwode and Preston Bissett, which are not too far from Thame (15 miles or
so). In my research I have come across Cherrys from Thame and will send
details later (I'm at work now and don't have them to hand).
