Hi, Cuzzins! Might as well start your New Year out with a whole lot of
reading on the CHENEY Lines found at below website. The Immigrant John
and William CHENEY of New England are included in this - I haven't read
every bit of it, but in scanning haven't found the Immigrant Richard
CHEYNEY of Maryland included - he may be hiding in an as yet unread by
me portion. Enjoy! Shirley: bobert(a)i-1.net

I have a file on this Cheney line, not sure how much is verified. If you
haven't heard back from me by the end of January, please rattle my cage
<staubusseeker(a)yahoo.com>, and I will dig into it. Pj Sisseck, Cheney WA

Hi....
I'm a descendant of Richard Cheney or Cheyney of Maryland, b. ca. 1615,
who settled in Anne Arundel Co. MD and married Charity ____. (I come
from his daughter Elizabeth (Cheyney) Iiams, and have lots of
information on this line if anyone's interested.)
I have seen many citations claiming that Richard of Maryland was the son
of Richard Cheney of London and Ann Ellinor -- and the line goes back a
couple of generations beyond that on both sides. Many of these sites
also claim that Richard's wife Charity was Charity (sometimes "Mary
Charity") Wood. Most of these sites also have dates and places appended
-- and not all of them agree.
Does anyone on this list know if these claims have any authenticity at
all? I have (on other lines) seen too often that someone finds a
record of a "John Smith" in England and immediately assumes that he's
"our John Smith" without any real evidence, and as soon as it's posted
on the web it becomes "fact." On the other hand, I don't want to
discount this line if it's been verified. Does anyone know what the
evidence is that the Richard Cheney of London is the same one who
settled in Maryland?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Happy holidays!
cheers,
Gordon Bonnet
