Dear C. Cuzzins: should have combined this msg. with the previous one about
Lucy CHENEY. Sorry bout that.
Shirley: bobert(a)panacom.com
Mr. CUMMINS m Lucy CHENEY in Chautauqua Co., NY about 1780 or before. He is
listed as being Quaker. Their children, David, Benjamin and Mary Cummings
apparently moved to Ontario, Canada and are buried in Northumberland Co.
They are also listed as Quakers in early census'.
I have no clue at present what Mr. CUMMINS first name was, or his family
history. I am trying to find a direction to go in obtaining this part of my
history and could sure use some help. Lucy Cheney's father Daniel Cheney
and
his wife Zerviah are not responding to research attempts yet either.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in a better direction.

Dear CHENEY Cuzzins: In sorting out my files (a good thing to do at
year-end, I believe), found this msg. from the Quaker list. I am forwarding
it in case this could be one of your CHENEYs. For further info on the
family, please contact originator of msg. Happy Holidays! Shirley:

Greetings to the list!
Around 1800 my Quaker ancestors CUMMIN(G)S moved from New York State to
Percy Twp, Northumberland Co., Ontario, Canada. They are registered in the
Percy Twp census of 1850 as Quakers.
Lucy CHENEY m Mr. Cummins abt 1785 in New York. Children: David, Benjamin,
Mary (Polly). Mr. Cummings died abt 1795, Lucy m. Thomas CURTICE (CURTIS)
and they moved to Canada. Children: Comfort, Phoebe, John, Thomas, Hiram.
Thomas died and Lucy married William Kelly (no kids).
I'm interested in particular in David CUMMINGS and siblings.
1850 Percy Twp Census Cummings, David prop, members of family 5, members abs
1, 3 Can, 2 US, Quakers, Lot 14, Con 2 (David m Lucinda DAVIS). By 1861,
they had become listed as W. Methodist.
How can I find out where they attended MM in Canada in the intervening 50
yrs? How do I get access to Canadian Quaker records?? I have checked
Hinshaw [note: this is the Quaker 'Bible' of members] and cannot find a
letter of withdrawal from NY for any of the possible surnames. (CURTIS,
CUMMIN(G)S, DAVIS). All help appreciated!!!
