Hi John, Jemima Jane Hultz is my GGgrandmother. Her parents were Elizabeth Pancake and William Hultz (Hulse) of Pike County. Elizabeth's parents were John Pancake, Sr. and Barbara See originally from Virginia and moved to Pike County. John Sr's second wife was Elizabeth Johnson. They had a son Harvey. Harvey and Jemima married in Scioto County after being denied in Pike County due to Harvey being her half-uncle.Harvey and Jemima had my Ggrandfather John W. Pancake. My grandmother Frances married Robert Boring and my father is Raymond Boring. There is a website - www.pancakepages.com that has all of the information to back this up. I would really like to know more about Jemima such as her birth and death dates and where she is buried. Harvey is buried in Omega Cemetery. The original farm land is near Omega. Thanks for your help. Janice
I do not know if this will be of help but I will post it again:
My gg-grandfather was John Henry Chenault b: 1814 d: 1876 Buckingham - married Sarah Catherine Routen. Children were Martha A., Mary F. Samuel D, John William, Laura, Virginia, Jessie J, Peter Henry, Elizabeth, Robert D, Richard H.
His death certificate does not mention the names of his parents. I have searched for 3-4 years for further information and the only clue is that there were 2 John Chenaults on the 1810 Buckingham census and both had families and since my gg-grandfather was born in 1814, I assume his father's name was probably a John.
Several years ago Belle Chenault tried to help me connect and noted that in a letter to Dr. Frank L. Chenault, George W. Chernault, Sr. of Roanoke gave the following names of his family from that area.
W. Beverly Chenault (twin to Lev)
Children: William Walker Chenault
M: #1 - Elizabeth Marsh Chernault in 1887 (?)
#2 Virginia Alice Chenault in 1892
Children: 1-George W. Chernault, Sr (1883-1974)
Children:#a-George W. Chernault, Jr.
(Maj. Air Force Reserves)
m: Margorie Ayers
#b-Charles William Chernault
(lives in Florida)
2-Elizabeth Chernault
3-Wiley Chernault
4-William Chernault
5-John Chernault
6-Edward Chernault (?)
Lev Chenault (twin to Beverly)
Benjamin Chenault - b: 1791
John Henry Chenault - b: 1814 d: 4/26/1876 (my gg-grandfather)
I have emailed this family, mailed them my information, and tried to share information for over 3 years unsuccessfully. I, too, would like to connect my John Henry Chenault (later Chernault) for the new "Red Book". Unfortunately, with the burned court house in Buckingham, the records are lost and the only way is for family members to share with each other.
I believe this Benjamin Chenault - b: 1791 is the ancester of David Boucher, since there is a g-grandson with the name Beverly but proving it is another matter.
Good luck in your research and if any of this is familiar, please get in touch. Thank you.

William B. Chenault was born on April 24, 1792 according to the information
on his tombstone in Waverly OH. He died in Waverly Ohio on 29 Aug 1870.
His wife Eliza Ann died 25 Dec 1863. The tombstone gives her age as 67 yrs,
putting her date of birth around 1796.
Patrick Chenault was married three times. First to Rebecca BARKER, then to
Margaret BOATWRIGHT, then to Margaret NICHOLAS aka Margaret Price. The
first name of Margaret Boatwright is confirmed by the 1820 census, which
lists both of their names in the same household as "Chinott Patk & Margr
Est. G. Carson" -- they were living on the property of the then recently
deceased George Carson. This is the only instance where I have seen a
spouse name listed in the 1820 census. In Ohio, Patrick is living in Ohio
with a different Margaret. I found out her maiden name in the divorce
petition of one Isaac PRICE, filed in Pike Co. OH Chancery Court in 1843.
It seems that his wife, the former Margaret NICHOLAS, had fathered a child
by a black man believed to be one Jeremiah D. BEACH, and afterward had
abandoned her family and taken up residence with "one Patrick Shenott, a
single man". They had a daughter, Rebecca Rachel Chenault, whose death
certificate lists her mother's name as "Margaret Price".
I have connected all of the Chenault families living in Ohio in 1880 or
earlier to either Willim B. or Patrick Chenault. I would be glad to submit
my information to the red book, but I don't know where to send it. As a
matter of fact, I thought I already HAD submitted it about five or six years
ago, so I don'ty know why it's not already in there.
I've got a stack of documentation on the Ohio Chenault families about a foot
high, not counting my own notes.

Hello.
I posted a message recently asking if anyone had any sort of record of
William Chenault's birth in Va. He was born about 1790-1792, exact county
unknown. He married Eliza Ann Hutchinson, born about 1798-1800, in
Cumberland Co., Va., on 16 Oct., 1816. Eliza was the daughter of James
Hutchinson and Margaret Hickman, of Cumberland Co.
Eliza Ann gave birth to my second great grandfather, Edward P. Chenault, in
1818. William Chenault had a brother named Patrick H. Chenault that married
a ___ Boatwright girl from Cumberland Co., on 25 Dec.,1817.
If anyone has knowledge of whom the parents of William and Patrick H.
Chenault is, and where they were from please contact me by my e-mail
address. I would greatly appreciate your help as I have come upon a snag at
this point and I am trying desperately to provide enough information as so
I can submitt my family linage by 1 Sept., 2003, to the Chenault Family
Org., so it can be included in the new "RED BOOK", comming out 2004. I fear
that many of these records may have been destroyed during the Civil War.
Please help if you can. Thank you. P.S. William, Eliza, and Edward migrated
to Pike Co., Ohio, in the early 1800's. William and Eliza are burried in
Pike Co., Ohio, and Edward is burried in Franklin Co., Ohio. Thank you

William Morris Chenault b. February 23, 1853 married Margaret Jane Johnson b. December 01, 1852 in Lawrence Co. Alabama ca. 1872.
Would like to know the names of their children, any information on her grandparents, Isaac Johnson b. ca. 1785 Virginia and Eleanor Mullins b. ca. 1797 Virginia and her great uncle, Thomas Johnson b. ca. 1822 and his wife Martha Sheffield b. 1828
Thanks!

I am also descended from Edward P. Chenault. His father WIlliam definitely had the middle initial "B"... that's how he is listed in his estate record. WIlliam actually died about two weeks prior to the date he was recorded in the 1870 census -- apparently the census-taker got his info from the neighbors or from his own knowledge. The estate record lists all of the heirs. Ed's share was divided among his siblings, because he owed money to the estate.
There are marriage records for William Chenault and Eliza Ann Hutchinson in Cumberland Co. VA, which record indicate that her father's name was James Hutchinson. Patrick Chenault was married in the same county around the same time. Later we find both Patrick and William moved to Ohio around the same time, between 1830 and 1840. The wife of the William B. Chenault is listed in several Ohio records as "Eliza Ann", including, if my memory serves me correctly, their tombstone in Evergreen Cemetery. The tombstone gives their ages and date of death. I have never found any other instance of a William Chenault married to an "Eliza Ann" or "Eliza A." in any other record either in Ohio or Virginia. Various court records confirm that Patrick Chenault of Ohio is the same man as the Patrick Chenault in Cumberland Co. VA records, and William Chenault disappears from VA records around the same time as WIlliam B. Chenault first appears in Ohio records.
I would be interested to know about the place and circumstance of Ed Chenault's death. I only know that he was living in or near Grove City in 1880, and apparently died sometime before 1900.

Dear John, You did not post this to me, but saw your message on message

families in Virginia. I am specifically interested in finding Info on Mary Mark
Chenault or Shinault born in Carolina Co. VA in 1875, whose father was named
Mark or Marc. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Mary Ann
