Dear Cheryl,
I was intrigued to read your message post, especially with specific dates for Benjamin Felix Chenault (1723-1766) md. to Louise D'Aubigne (1723-1767). You state that Benjamin Felix Chenault I had one son, Benjamin Felix Chenault II. Have you surmised that Benj.Sr. is the same who is named as the father of the "Six Poor Children of Benj. Chinall" listed in the Bedford county court records in April of 1767? Moreover, I assume that Benj.Jr is the same who lived in Surry county, No. Carolina. I have records showing the following variant spellings for his name: Chenault, Shinalt, Shinall, and Shinoll. Are you aware of the interconnection of the Chenault family in Surry county, NC to another family clan in Wythe county, Virginia?
Stan Harsh's research now suggests that Estienne Cheneau (Stephen Chenault I) had just one son by his original wife, Stephen Chenault II (a Tobacco Teller in Essex county). Stephen Chenault II is believed to have married Anstes Coffey and had the following children: Stephen Chenault III (who moved to Bedford county), William Chenault, Benjamin Chenault, John Chenault, and Nancy Chenault.
I am curious to know the sources for your information regarding the middle names for the aforementioned Benjamins (Felix), and also where did the Benj.Sr's wife's name come from?
Sincerely, Chris Shinall

You are right about his marriage to Susan, and two children from that marriage. One is daughter Deborah, who I know nothing about since all the kids from both marriage were adopted out to foster families. The second daughter, was my Great,Great,Grandmother and her name was Elizabeth Susanna Chenault. Elizabeth Susanna married John Worrell # 2 on Nov 02, 1826...There were 10 children from that marriage, not two. One of the ten children was my Great Grandmother Susannah (spelled differently from mother) given name Susannah Frances "Fannie" Worrell, who married Coleman Covington Duncan on Nov 24, 1874 in Kentucky. I am the 7th generation # 28 on the Worrell Website of names.
Thankyou,

I am a descendant from Benjamin Felix Chenault # 2, from his second marriage to Susan. Who was Benjamin's first wife? Did they have children? My Great,Great,Grandmother Elizabeth Susanna Chenault is from his two daughters . My Great Grandmother is one of them and the other was her sister Deborah. My Great,Great,Grandmother married John Worrell # 2. Amos Worrell was John Worrells father. I read, where Amos Worrell was married to a lady named Mary Chenault. Were there any children from this marriage named Etta Worrell? I can't find Etta Worrell anywhere, she and my Grandmother Hattie Bell Duncan Pritchett were cousins. Does anyone have info on this line? Please email me at rddc(a)sbcglobal.net Thankyou, cheryl Wallace
