I have pictures of a John Everette Chenault. He would be a son of Ruthy Ann. His wife's name was Ida. They lived in Altus, Ok.. Her husband, William, died after the Civil War.
She died and is buried in Olustee, Ok. Are we talking about the same person? Please let me hear from you.

Has been awhile, but in reading over our conversations I wanted to say William (Ruth Anns)husband died of TB after the Civil War. She did not get a pension from this.
I have these pictures of John Everett Chenault. All I know about his wife is my mother called her Aunt Ida. I have pictures taken of their place in Ok.. Do you know which 4 children she brought with her. I have heard one of the kids got into some trouble and she had to sell the dairy she had. I think that is when she went to Kerville, Tx. before going to Ok.
Who she stayed with there I have no idea.
There were 7 children.

I just recently found out on a visit to Arkansas, that my great-grandmother was Mattie Chenault born in 1853, she had 5 children. 3 girls and 2 boys. The boys were Will and Sam(my grandfather, born in 1888). The girls were Dee, Carrie, and one other who slips my mind at the moment. She was born into slavery, but they didn't list a husband in the obit, nor a place of birth. I will have to dig deeper, but I don't think certain counties in Arkansas kept their colored censuses with the white ones, although there is a connection between the two families. Are you having any luck with the Hots Springs area?

Looking for someone who knows of this John R. Chenault. I believe he worked of the Magnolia(Mobil) refinery in the 1950's and maybe 1960's. Believed to have some kind of connection to a Bert Frank Gray family. Any infomation would be of help. It is believed there was a family dispute between Frank's wife and John.
Thanks Brenda
