Hi Everyone
Had several people ask me to let them know when I updated
my cheever page.
I've added a little more information and two pictures. One
is of the Cheever family taken in Iowa around 1921. The
other is a tin type of Jim (James) Cheever. Which James
Cheever and date are unknown to me.

I have been looking into the history of my family name here in Somerset for
the last nine months. I live in Midsomer Norton, about 10 miles south of
Bath and Bristol. Until 20 years ago, this area was the centre of the North
Somerset coal mining industry. Many people in the past were drawn to this
area of North Somerset because of the extra income they could earn in the
pits. So far about 95% of my ancestors were miners. In the course of my
research, our name has crossed with the following families in this area.
TAYLOR CHIVERS BRIDGE JONES FLOWER COLES BOX
CARTER CARPENTER WILLCOX ASHMAN SHEARN GREGORY
BEAL(E) (from South Somerset)
HOLCOMBE (from West Somerset)
OWENS (from S.Wales)
WILLIAMS (from S.Wales)
WILLIAMS(from Herefordshire)
LANG (From North Devon)
I have got back to the seventeenth century with certain branches of the
family and I would be happy to share any information with anyone who may
find these names of use.
My grandmother's maiden name was CHIVERS and I have been able to trace her
ancestry back to the illegitimate birth of William CHIVERS in the parish of
Holcombe in May 1784. I would be grateful to anyone who can offer any more
information about my family or any links in SW England.

Hi everyone
Don't remember if it was list list or on another one. But
someone once mention that all Cheever were descendants of
Ezekiel Cheever. Just wanted to let you know that I have
received some information. That there were at least two
cousins of Ezekiel who came to the USA.
One was Bartholomew Cheever first mention I have for him
is he was of Boston, cordwainer and was a member of the
First Church 1646. He married but had no issues.
The second person was Richard Cheever his name appears in
the treasurer's accounts for military service in king
philip war under the date of 1676 and there is mention of
him in a town meeting held in Boston in 1683. He married
Abigail and had 11 children. Bartholomew, Susanna,
Bartholomew, Mary, Sarah, Mary, Abigail, Daniel, James,
Hannah, Hannah.
Wondering if anyone is faimilar with these Cheevers.
Judy
