My line goes from Ralph Cheever and Elizabeth Klingerman in Macon Mo to
Kosciusko, IND where they married ll June 1855. Ralph is son of Samual
Cheever b. 6 April 1799 in NY or Mass. d. 18 June 1860 in Kosc. Co.buried in
Clunette cemetary. 2nd wife, Sally Bute, Married first wife in Jefferson Co.
NY. (What's her name, b. and d.?-- she's mine) Samuel's father was Ezekiel
Cheever who married Ruth ? and died in Jeff. Co. NY in 1849. Besides Samuel,
Ezekiel and Ruth had William, John, Louisa, Sterling, Mahalia (Joiner),
Sally (Lawrence), Polly (Jewell), and Ruth (Calkins). He had to have been
born in Mass. There are three Ezekiel Cheevers in Mass 1790 -- one in
Middlesex and two in Essex (Dracut and Lynn). Does anyone recognize any of
these names? I have more information to share.
Thanks!
My husband's Cheever line joins his Lewis line
Mary Cheever married Capt. William Lewis on 22 Nov. 1671. She was daughter
of Ezekial Cheever. She was born on 28 Nov. 1640 and died 10 Jan. 1727/8.

greetings fellow cheever kin,
my cheever connection is the following...
On 11 May 1853, in Lynn, Essex Co. MA, Mary B. Cheevor married Eugene
Wood, a Canadian cordwainer. (My 3g-Grandparents). The marriage license
lists her father as Joseph Cheevor.
The 1850 census for Lynn gives the following...
Joseph Cheever - 57 - M - Shoemaker - $5000 - MA
Hephsibeth "" - 55 - F - MA
Mary B. "" - 19 - F - MA
(and 5 others, omitt'd here)
This date would make Joseph Cheever/Cheevor born 1792-3. In Sanderson
"Lynn in the Revolution" (1909), he lists Thomas Cheever jr., born 17
March 1760, married 30 August
1789 to Anna Hudson. They had issue: John, Anna, and JOSEPH, before her
death 3 October 1793. The name and date matching well, they would seem
likely candidates for Joseph's parentage.
Thomas jr's parents are given as Thomas Cheever sr. (20 Feb 1732-3 to 28
Jan 1823) and
Mary Emerson (married: 30 Sept 1753, died 20 Nov 1809). Thomas jr.
served in the French
and Indian war as well as the revolutionary, along with his son in the
latter.
This Thomas was the son of Thomas Cheever and Eunice Ivory, and grandson
of another Thomas
who came to Lynn in 1702 and built a mill. This Thomas was the father of
the Rev. Edward
(born 2 May 1717), as well as the other Thomas supposedly, and they were
all desendents of
Ezekiel Cheever.
So... these Cheevers ring a bell to anyone? Any info be all good.
cya'll.
