Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Benjamin Cheeseman buried in East Springfield Cemetery. Born September 20,
1756, Braintree , MA. Parents names not given in town record. Died March 20,
1852, aged 95 years 6 months. Applied for pension August 6, 1832 aged 75
years resident of Springfield twp., Erie County, PA; enlisted at Braintree,
MA as a minute man in the fall of 1774; served under Captain Stephen
Penniman; at the time of the Lexington Alarum he marched with his company to
Roxbury, MA about 10 days later he enlisted in Captain Silas Wild's Co. in
Col. Greaton's Massachusetts Regiment and served as a private for 8 months.
January 1776 enlisted and served 3 months; Sept. 1777 enlisted and served 4
months and later another term of three months under Captain Wm. Gold.
After the Revolutionary War, according to his Pension application, he lived
in Hampshire Co., MA then Madison Co., NY for 17 years then moved to Erie
Co., PA where he had lived for 7 years at that time (1832). No family data
on pension papers. Record S-22166
In the vital records of Roxbury, MA is the marriage record of Benjamin
Cheeseman to Sarah Howe, December 1778.
In the vital recoords of Middlefield, Hampshire County, MA are the following
children given as of Benjamin Cheeseman,(no wifes name)
Benjamin, Issac, Nabby. Peggy, Ruth, and Thankful, all baptized November
1st 1795; Thanka, was bap. Sept. 28, 1801; Clarissa bap. August 31, 1803.
In the lot in East Springfield cemetery, next to Benjamin, is the grave of
Duren Cheeseman, who died Sept 10, 1859 age 62 years 3 mos 9das and of Ella
F., his wife who died Feb. 1, 1865 age 68 yrs 8mos.

Hello,
I am new to the list and my new found ancestry. Benjamin Chessman (Chesman)
was born in Braintree, MA in 1756 to Edward and Margret Chessman. His
siblings include: Anson b. 1752, Abel b. 1758, Rhoda b. 1760 and Calvin b.
1764. Benjamin served in the Militia from Braintree during the Rev. War,
after war moved to Hampshire Co. MA, where he lived with his wife and
children - one being a daughter, Thankful. In his late years he moves to
Erie Co. , PA - where he dies in 182?.
Benjamin's father , Edward is the son of George and Jane Chesman born 9
April 1726 in Braintree, His siblings include: John b. 1713, Sarah b.
1714/1715, George b. 1717, Jane b. 1720, Samuel b. 1722, Clifford b. 1724
Mathias b. 1729/30. His brother Sam marries Mary Tower in 1747.
