He was born in Hull, UK in 1870 and by the time of the First War they had emigrated to Canada. How do I know? - eldest son Roy Brumpton Cheesman was killed in France in 1916. The whole family of George and Louisa consisted of seven children, Roland, Sydney, Doris, Norman, Marjorie and Violet plus Roy.
I would like to hear from any descendants.

Hi,
I'm afraid that name does not fit anywhere into my tree at the moment.
As far as I know, the only Cheeseman that came to Autralia (from my line) was my Great Grand Mother Maud Cheeseman (b 1880 Newhaven, SSX).
It is quite possible nephews, neices or cousins may have followed - that I am not aware.
Sorry not to of more help.
Good luck with your searching
Trevor

Thanks Valerie,
The Skinner connection into the Cheesemans is that George Cheeseman (b c1840) marr Sarah Ann Ditch (b 1852) on 19/1/1874.
They had a dau Maud (b1880) who marr Charles David Skinner (b 1882)They migrated to Australia in 1911 along with 3 children.
If you can make any connection - that would be fantastic - it sounds promising.
If there is, I can fill you in about the Aussies here.
Please keep in contact.
Private email may be a more efficient way to communicate.
The Cheeseman line has been dormant for me for many years - I hope we can shed some light onto it!
Thanks
Trevor

Hi, Trevor,
No connections anywhere, I'm afraid, but of course the Kent Cheesemans were prolific in their endeavours to help populate the planet! Good luck with your research,

Hi Valerie,
This sounds promising to me.
My George was marr twice. Secondly to Sarah Ann Harriet Ditch (1874) But I don't know who his first wife was. On his second marr cert he is listed as widowed.
Could your Albert George be the child of 'my' George and his first wife??
Who was 'your' Albert George's mother & father?
My George has been a brick wall for me for years!
Hear from you soon.
Thanks for your quick response.

Hi Trevor,
My 'George' was in fact ALBERT GEORGE born in Kent UK in 1873. He married Eliza and the whole family congregated around Eccles, Burham & Maidstone in Kent UK. There were several cousins (I think children of George Cheeseman, son of Albert George) who emigrated to various colonies and the name Skinner is familiar to me.

Hi, I don't think they do but I am still very much in the research stage of this family. Most of the Cheesemans congregated in Kent UK. I do know the immediate family and my grandparents (George & Eliza b 1873)but have not got further than that at this time.
As said previously, I do know that my father had cousins who emigrated to the USA, Australia, Canada and New Zealand and I think some of them had the name of Skinner.
It is entirely possible that there is a family connection, I do remember a great-aunt Sarah so I will keep you posted.

Hi Mick,
Thanks for your quick reply.
My George Cheeseman is a brick wall at the moment.
I have him listed in the 1851 census as living with Auntie Mary Cheeseman b c1773 Kent, her dau Harriet b c 1813 Linton Kent, son Robert b c 1824 Attington Kent. My George is listed as 'cousin' b c 1841 Maidstone Kent.
My George's was widowed when he marr my Sarah Ann Harriet Ditch. On his wedding certificate, his father is not named.
As he was living with his auntie when he was 10, I presume his father died when he was very young and possibly did not know (?)
Does the family I mentioned above fit anywhere with you?
If you have any info regarding these Cheesemans, please let me know, as George is a 'brick wall' and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please keep me posted.
Thanks
Trevor

I am also searching for a George Cheeseman in Kent.
My George was born c1840 Maidstone and marr Sarah Ann Harriet DITCH 19/1/1874 in Sussex.
Their daughter Maud marr Charles David SKINNER and migrated to Australia.
This mention if relatives migrating to Aust triggered my interest in your post.
Anyone else interested in this line??

I also have Cheesemans from Kent who emigrated to the U.S. in 1852. Mine go back to Samuel Cheeseman who married Lucy Harris. They had the following children: Mary, Elizabeth, Lucy, Charlotte, Sarah, Anne, John, and Amos. All were born in Stalisfield, Kent. Samuel and family moved to Leysdown, Sheppey, Kent.
Do any of these fit in with your?

Hi, Valerie,
Many thanks for your message, much appreciated.
Unfortunately, it's the wrong GEORGE CHEESEMAN. My 'George', who was my great-great grandfather, came from the Canterbury area of Kent, as did his immediate ancestors. Since posting my original message, I have tied up quite a few loose ends, but none involving Eccles or Down Under. But thank you again for your consideration,
Mick Mirams

Hi, I have just found your message. My research to date does not go back as far as yours but I am a Cheeseman from Kent.My research has shown this name coming up in Kent but very few other counties in Kent UK.
My grandfather was George Cheeseman, married to Eliza Prentice and they raised (6) children in Eccles Kent. I know there were cousins who emigrated to the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
If you think this may be what you are looking for please contact me and good luck in your search....
