Hello everyone,I have a bit of a mystery here.My ancesters came over to Philadelphia from Ireland in 1847 during the famine parents robert and Elizabeth steele, and two kids, Matilda and William. They would have only one other child, a boy born in Phily in 1852. His full name was Andrew Mcpherson Cheesman Steele. I had trouble as to the origin of the two middle names until I found this;
A young doctor (age about 24) named Andrew Mcpherson Cheesman living with his family a short distance away (ward 2, the Steeles were in ward 4) my assumption would be that he was probaly the family doctor and perhaps a friend of the family. It would appear to me that Elizabeth had trouble carrying to term as there was a 8 year gap between matilda and Andrew. Dr. Andrew was born in 1826,New York, according to the 1850 census. Others in the household were his father, Rev. Lewis Cheesman, and sisters Jane,Sarah, and Catherina. Anyway, if anyone has any knowledge of this family please let me know.
Thank you,
Tom.
