Hi All,
I have been looking for info on a lady by the name of Mary Cheesman. c1815(Or so I believe)
Frimley Surrey areas
There are possibly many variations on her name, as mentioned in the subject.
I have found many things on familysearch, rootsweb, etc etc etc. Which has been very helpful.
I'll tell you what I know of her so far then hopefully someone may be able to help fill in the blanks.
I know she married a man named John TOUGH FINCH dob 1812.
They had a child, Christopher 1832.
John was sent to Australia as a convict on board the Calcutta II in 1837. Once pardoned he had a large family in Australia - that's where I fit in. I know as much as possible about John and his family so I need no further info there.
Mary and child were left behind. I believe she had another child named James in 1844, I know nothing of a spouse at that time.
I believe she was declared widowed and remarried in 1862 to a man named William Watts, but can find nothing to confirm this.
What I would really like to know is what happened to Mary CHEESMAN when she was left behind in Frimley in 1837. Somebody out there in genealogy world has to be related to this lady, and I desperately seek your help.
If anyone can help me with this that would be absolutely wonderful.
Thank you so much.

Louise,
I have Cheesemans from the Sheppey area who emigrated to the U. S. (Ohio) in 1852. They are John Cheeseman and his wife, Betsy Mason Cheeseman, and their 5 children: William John, Robert V., Samuel, Elizabeth, and John.
John Cheeseman was born in Stalisfield, Kent, England on 20 Dec 1818 and Betsy was born in Cromer, Erpingham, Norfolk, England. All of the children were born in Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey, Kent, England.
John Cheeseman was the son of Samuel Cheeseman, b. 1773/1776 in Stalisfield, Kent, England, and Lucy Harris.
Do any of these connect with yours?
Steve Searight

Hi Jean No I have no ancestors from Sheerness/Sheppey. Mine came from Wiltshire, at least as far back as 1600. Some of them moved to the area around Croydon, Surrey in the 1860's and I was born in Crawley, SX. I did, however, find a Thomas Cheseman in Bury, SX in the early 15th century, which was interesting since one of my great aunts helped her husband run the Store in Bury in the 1930-1960's period. It maybe, however, that the Cheesemans in Wiltshire originated in Kent and Sussex, since the name seems to have come from there. Ian Cheeseman
