I have a name in the frame for being my grandad's father a Philip Cheeseman who was born in Yetminster, Dorset, England. I would like information on my Auntie Jennifer who married a Roy Porch. They had 3 daughters Donna, Tina and ? They used to live at Evershot just outside Sherborne. Also i would like information on my Uncles Frederick and Tobias aka Toby. Uncle Frederick was married to a Daphne Hannan and had 2 children Sandra and Nigel. They lived in Leigh (a village just outside Sherborne). Any help would be appreciated

Hi Ethel,
I am happy to hear from you!
I have recently found a marriage for a John Cheesman to Hepzhebah Cross 1825 in St Mary Whitechapel, Stepney, London, England.
In regards to the marriage of John Cheesman and Hephzeba Cross – this has not been 100% proven-
Charles Warton’s sister, Elizabeth Cheesman married Phinease Aranthus Danforth of New York, on 7 Oct 1852, in Galt. Their seventh (known) child was named Hephzibah Cross Danforth. I believe that she named her after Hephzibah after Elizabeth’s grandmother. Still looking to prove or disprove. Do you have an answer? Elizabeth & Phineas’ oldest child, Manerva Hephzibah Danforth was named after both mother-in-laws. Second child, Frances Eliza Danforth was names after Elizabeth’s Cheesman grandparents: Francis & Elizabeth Cheesman.
When John Cheesman (father of Charles Warton Cheesman) married the widow, Jane Simms Findlater, 30 Nov 1867, Galt – He, John, indicated that his parents were: Francis and Elizabeth.
Henry Cheesman born 16 Aug 1869, Galt, Waterloo, Ontairo, Canada, son of John Cheesman Sr. and Jane Simms Cheesman.
