Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I'd like to invite you to consider joining one more list:

Kelly Courtney-Blizzard's census lists inspired this one, or at least they
were the first digit in the 2+2=4. The second was when I realized I had
broken down two major brick walls through the use of city directories rather
than censuses and thought maybe the same idea would translate. I know there
are a heckuva lot of old city directories in the two libraries I use most.
Of course, for the concept to work at least some of us have to look up
stuff. In fact, to be fair, ALL of us should look up as well as ask for
look-ups. Surely everyone on the list lives near a library that has some
old city directories...
Now, I'm not going to start by asking everyone to list what directories they
can access. Seems to me such a blizzard of information wouldn't be kept
anyway; rather, let's just toss out what we need and see if there's any
response. In that very vein, though, the FIRST thing to remember is that no
one is sitting in some cubicle somewhere waiting (and being paid) to pull up
your information. Instead, you're hoping someone is volunteering to do so.
If so, THANK THEM. If not, PLEASE don't send in a grumbly message that you
haven't gotten any response - as I've seen happen on several of the many
lists to which I subscribe. After all, if everyone who CAN'T help tells you
so, you're going to get buried in nothing useful.
Now, let's have some fun!
