Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I can appreciate your frustration about the posting's or lack of them, to
this board.
Have you looked at the archives to see what was previously posted, someone
may have touched on your family and left the board after having satisfied
their need to research that surname any longer.
We all post to many boards and we MUST remember that the internet is a
fleeting thing - something once posted disappears into the archives and the
next *new* post is just that, new, even though the question may deal with
names that have already been thoroughly discussed.
To use this magic research method we are obliged to go back into the
archives of the boards and see if someone at some other time offered
information that would be new and current to us.
Just because the Cheeseman board has not produced help for you now, does
not mean there's no one out here. We may simply have visited and moved on.
My own Cheeseman connections were not in NJ or PA but on Long Island. The
family has a frustrating way of giving everyone the same Christian names
generation after generation.
There is a lot of Cheeseman information in the New Jersey Wills. They are
available in book form - or at least the abstracts are.
Want to tell us who you are looking for and what period of time is
involved? These two pieces of information are crucial to pinpoint
connections, and it gets to be a habit to ignore any request that does not
immediately state them.
Your Cheeseman families would probably initially come over to Jersey from
New York. I would be more than willing to help you if we can find any
connection there. However, my most recent date for this surname is 1785.
