Any connection to the Cheesmur s or the Cheeseman's of Chertsey, Surrey
area?
By the way, incidentally, I lived my first year in North America in
Downsview.

Subject: [Cheeseman-UK] James CHISMAN (1816 - 1876) farmer of
Wiltshire, England
Hi List,
Greetings from Toronto, Canada.
James CHISMAN was baptized in East Knoyle, Wilts, in 1816. In 1843, in
West
Knoyle, James CHISMAN (1816 - 1876) of Castle Eaton married Ann RUMSEY
(1820 -
1883) of West Knoyle. They farmed in Lushill, in Castle Eaton (census
of 1851);
by the 1861 census, they were farming in Pewsey Manor Farm; lastly, at
the 1871
census, they were farming in Winterborne Bassett, all of them in Wilts.
James
and Ann had issue, all of them born in Castle Eaton:
1. Elizabeth CHISMAN (1844 - 1876) who married William LAWRENCE (1841
- 1912)
of Idstone, Ashbury, Berks; they farmed in Sharcott in Pewsey and,
later, in
Normanton, both in Wilts and had issue;
2. William Rumsey CHISMAN (1845 - > 1901), who married Mary Ann
LAWRENCE ( 1849
- 1942), of Idstone, Ashbury, Berks; they farmed in Chaddleworth,
Berks, and
had issue, all of them born in Chaddleworth;
3. James CHISMAN (1846 - >1891), who apparently never married and
probably died
without issue.
I would like to correspond and exchange genealogical research material
with any
descendant or researcher of this CHISMAN family. I have a lot of
ancestral
material on the RUMSEY, CHISMAN and LAWRENCE ancestors of this family.
I have
some material on the descendants of this family.
Best wishes.
