Greetings listers
As many regulars on the list will be aware. I am descended from Edward
Frederick Cheeseman born in 1881 in Notting Hill, Kensington, London UK.
His father also Edward Frederick Cheeseman a gasfitter had died earlier
that year. It was the fathers second? marriage as when he married Edward
juniors mother in 1878 he was described as a widow. Based on the death
and other details. Edward Senior was born circa 1836 the son of William
Cheeseman a Bricklayer/maker? Edward seniors mother, earlier wife and
any other children are unknown. The area that Edward Senior lived in
during the late 1870's was open fields in 1871 indicating he was from
elsewhere.
I have as yet been unable to locate Edward F Cheeseman in Census records
for 1851,1861,1871. Suggestions on the list may indicate a Kent or Surrey
Cheeseman family link but nothing yet that I can be sure of.
Any Suggestions or possible links welcome
regards
Michael Cheeseman
Just a friendly reminder listers that these lists cannot be used to
gathering info for books, Fiche, websites, peoples email addresses
to send spam or other commercial gain enterprises etc.
These lists are non profit for the benefit of those looking to find family
info free of commercial spam.
Messsages remain the copyright of the sender. Commercial enterprises, such
as advertising (other than rootsweb supporters who pay for our free useage),
book writers scouting for info, pro researchers using the lists to scout for
business, people gathering email addresses for lists used by commercial
advertisers are not permitted.
If you are unsure that a message you intend sending may be taken in this
way,
contact the lists admin discuss if it is appropriate before posting it.
General messages about Cheeseman family history, Occupations, homes, sources
for info, requests for info with a UK Origin, etc is what this list is
primarily about.
Also take care on forwarding other peoples messages from other websites.
Laws in the UK and Australia regarding this could result in prosecution.
I am unsure what Canada, the US, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland or
other countries laws are regarding email messages. But international law
or reciprocal agreements with Australia and the US on each others laws
being breached do exist. I for one dont intent to test their strength.
Usually if you get the permission from the originator first, you save
yourself grief from an angry Family historian. Some get rather angry if
their message is passed on to other sites without their consent.
You can thereby avoid getting a bad name in many family history groups
without being aware of it. Once Blackballed it's hard to win back trust
especially from well known regulars who contribute heaps to many lists.
If people are unaware of email ettiquite issues, try readying copies of
various family tree mags which often cover many issues.
Some examples are:
Messages in all capitols is considered shouting.
Spam is sending messages about commercial interests often requesting a fee
for service.
Flaming is sending nasty, or attacking messages aimed at people or groups.
replying to messages sent directly to you is the polite thing to do
not replying is considered impolite and can offend some people.
I hope you all have success in searching for your Cheeseman/Cheesman?Chesmur
roots.
Happy hunting all
regards
Michael Cheeseman

Well, its not likely but I will remind you of my GG grandfather, William
Cheesmur who married Ann Cheeseman (dau of Stephen C and Ann Gray) and who
had their children mostly in Brox and Lyne Surrey between 1835 and 1852
unless you think they are the same William and Ann who had Charle in 1856 per
Theresa in Australia.
My William was indeed a brickmaker as was his wife's father.
Any help?
Stephen G. Cooper, son of Doris Speller, dau of Beatrice Emily Eggleton (dau
of Charles E. and Sarah Emma Cheesmur) and Percy Walter Speller (son of
Sidney S. and Adeline Elizabeth Cheesmur)
