Many years ago, when I was researching my Clarks in NJ, I found a very old petition (late 1600s-early 1700s) mentioning "Richard Cheek, a Dutchman" as a signer. I have not pursued this because I can't get any farther back than my 4X great grandfather, Silas Cheek. He was born abt 1791 in NC and died 1849 in Monroe County, IL (in the cholera epidemic). I believe he was related to Randolph Cheek because both of them were living close in MO. Randolph stayed in MO, Silas moved on to IL..
