I just found your posting on Leroy Cheek. He was my Great Grandfather and I'm the Granddaughter of Hettie Cheek Lee. My Grandmother (Hettie) took care of Leroy and Mary Jane until they passed. Leroy and Mary Jane had eight daughters. I do have some information if you would like, also I would be interested in anything you might have.

The Catherine Eliot Cheek you refer to is probably my g-g grandmother. She was married to Richard Cheek and, in about 1834, lived in Marshall Co., Alabama. He children include Jesse (my great grandfather born about 1820),Sarah, Bird, Francis, Maria, Betsy, Willis, and Martin. Catherine died in Oklahoma Territory about 1835 after being sent there on Trail of Tears. Information I have was that daughter Sarah died on Trail of Tears and daughter Bird reached Oklahoma and was on Cherokee roles there. Jesse stayed in Alabama. His children include Joseph (my grandfather)Elizabeth Jane, William, Sarah, Mary, Alexander, John, and Margaret. The family seemed to move a lot between Alabama and Tennessee. Hope this helps some.
Larry Cheek
