Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Ooo, I looked at some Cherokee Mayfields several years ago and I'll have to see if I still have those notes. I don't remember if they were in connection with the Cheeks or not.
Feel free to contact me at s3js9938 on gmail dot com. Can you send me specifics so I can track the right families? Do you have a Hilliard Cheek in your tree? Hilliard's is the only documented Cheek family on the Dawes Roll that I can DEFINITELY connect to MO. There are others said to be from that state, but I have not yet been able to prove them out. You might be surprised and find they are through the Mayfields. There are MANY Mayfields - by blood, inter-married whites and freedmen. There are also Choctaw and Creek Cheeks and Mayfields.
I would LOVE to see a picture of Pernecia. How lucky you are to have it!

Hello, My great grandfather George Henry Mayfield went to visit Indian relatives in Oklahoma back in the 30's. These were through the Cheek line, His mother was Pernecia Emily Cheek, her father was James H. Cheek they lived in Bollinger Co. Missouri. Can you help me any make the connection? Thanks, P.S. I'm looking for info on Albert Cheek b. 21 Dec 1884 Hatfield, England. He had two daughters Florence Cheek and Amy Rosaleen Cheek. He changed his name to Bert Rodgers and moved to Washington state.
