Hello Ronald, do you have any dates for your William and James?? I have a few but they don't go with any "Spruell CHEEK" but he,my William, was born in VA. abt 1723,in Spottsylvania or Essex Co., VA., and then he died in Warren Co., North Carolina bet. 1797 & 1800. He married a Sarah ALSTON/BLAKE (haven't been able to straighten those names out yet), but then my family left N.C. and went to Bollinger County Missouri and also to Madison County Missouri. I know that this isn't any help to you but maybe it will open some doors for you to look in other states too.
Remember to put as much info as possible.
Good Luck in your diggin,
Genelistmom-Sandee

I descend from Silas Cheek (b. 1790-91 in NC, d. July 25, 1849 in Monroe
Co., IL in the cholera epidemic) and his wife Mary "Polly"
Nowlin/Nowlan/Nolan (b. 1794 NC, d. bef. 1860 in Monroe Co., IL)
I have a Dora May Cheek in this line. She is the daughter of Cornelius
Cheek & Mary Dowling. She mar. George Dilley March 17, 1912 in Randolph
Co., IL and had 10 children. I do not show her as having a twin sister, nor
a sibling named Cora.
Dora descends from Silas & Mary Cheek as follows: Silas & Mary > John Cheek
& Martha Perdieu > Cornelius Cheek & Mary Dowling > Dora Cheek & George
Dilley > Blanche Edith; unnamed (female) twins (died at birth); Gordon
Richard; Mary Ethel; Dorothy Bessie; John Robert; Howard Cornelius; Roy
Vernon & Paul Eugene.
After 20+ years of research and multiple trips to NC, KY, TN State Archives,
I have not been able to figure out who Silas' parents are. I believe they
may have lived in the land involved in the Walker dispute as his children
give their birth place as both TN & KY. TN was part of NC.
Let me know if you think this is your line.
Janet Flynn

Could this Cheek lineage be part of the Cheek line I am looking for also? My GGrandmother is Dora Cheek...I believe that her mother died giving birth to a brother...Byron Cheek. Rumor has it she had a twin...Cora Cheek. I believe my GGM was raised possibly by an Aunt after her mother died? I think Dora's father was named Joseph Silas Cheek?
Does any of this ring a bell?

Hello, I am looking for a William Eleck Cheek or a William Aleck Cheek. He was married to a Lucinda Daily and they had one son named William James Cheek. The only documentation that I can find is none. I do know through family meetings that William James/James William was his son though. It is said that William Eleck/William Aleck's father was Spruell Cheek and that he was from North Carolina or South Carolina and that William E./William A. was also born there and they later moved to Illinois where William married Lucinda. I have found where Lucinda was living in 1880 with a sister and the census shows William James as being 3 years old at the time. If any one out there can make a connecetion to William E./William A. Cheek with a father of Spruell Cheek this information would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email me at Rglineman(a)aol.com.
Thank you,
Ronald
