Rebecca,
There were at least four Cheek brothers (Nicholas, Tavner, Francis and Page) who settled in pre-Indiana, Dearborn County.
There is also a George Cheek living there after 1850. An 1858-1859 state compilation of businesses lists George Cheek, dealer in hay in Aurora, Dearborn County, Indiana.
I have not found a George Cheek for the period in question. I will keep looking.

I've recently been looking at George Cheek & Leannah and I also find a lot of the information confusing. Does anyone know if there is any documentation, such as a will or estate record, that identifies George's children? Some of my initial impressions:
-- Many sources indicate that George Cheek was born in 1722, but I haven't found anything that actually documents his age. Apparently he first appears in records in Frederick Co., VA, in 1767. If he was in his 20's to early 30's in 1767, he would have been born around 1735-1745.
-- I think someone may have bumped back George's birthdate to account for his son Nicholas Cheek supposedly being born in 1754. HOWEVER, I think this birthdate is off too. According to the census, Nicholas' widow, Barbara, was age 60-70 in 1840 and 75 in 1850. So she was born abt. 1775. You may have seen "Cotton's Keepsake of Poems of Various Subjects" by Rev. Judge A.J. Cotton (it's posted on Rootsweb) which states that Mrs. Barbara Cheek, widow of Nicholas Cheek, was 102 years old in 1858. But I think that is a big exaggeration based on the census!
-- So, to summarize, I think George Cheek, Sr., may have been born around, say, 1740, which means his children were probably born from around 1760 at the earliest to the mid-1780's.
-- There is a George Cheek in Dearborn Co., IN, who died in 1850. He is often included as son of George Sr., however, I think he was a grandson. Cotton's biographical sketch says that Nicholas Cheek had a grandson named Stroder Cheek. Stroder or Strawder Cheek was apparently the son of the George Cheek who died in 1850 based on estate records. So that means this George Cheek was a son of Nicholas Cheek. The only George Cheek listed in the census in Dearborn Co., IN, was age 18-26 in 1820, age 30-40 in 1830, and age 40-50 in 1840, so born between 1794-1800.
-- I think George Cheek, Sr., may have had a son named George Cheek, but that son was probably born much earlier. There is a George Cheek who signed declarations in support of the Rev. War pension application of Isaac Way, who enlisted in Front Royal, VA, in 1780. If his friend George Cheek was born around 1760, he'd have been 20 years old in 1780, a prime age for a Revolutionary War soldier.
As I mentioned, I'm only just starting some research on George & Leannah Cheek, so I'd be interested in thoughts/comments/additional info!
Rebecca

I'm very curious about your post regarding Aide Cheek. Did they also call him George? Did your line of Cheek's move to Indiana? I'm looking for connections to Gross and Odom lines.

this post is quite old, but I am a descendent of these Cheaks from Rose Hill. My mother is Phyllis, daugher of Dewitt, who was brother to Bae. Bae was married to Hazel. Strangely enough, my father is the son of Lee and Sylva Barker -- Sylva and Hazel were sisters. If you are still looking for information, I can try to help you (not that I know a lot prior to what is above, as Bae was gone before I was born).
in reading your post again, i feel like i should know who you are!
