I am seeking information about the mother of Mary Cofield Cheek (b. 1762 in North Carolina). Her father is William Cheek (b. 1723 in Virginia). I have found sources that say her mother is Sarah Alston (b. 1723), but others say Sarah Blake.

Dear List
I must post my request again just in case by some remote possibility some
one can HELP
James CHEEK born about January 10, 1818 in Halse, Somerset, England, and his
wife,
Maria(h) DUNSCOMBE born about March 1, 1819 in Dulverton, Somerset,
England....
This couple with 6 children arrived in 1855 at New York, USA and made their
way to Rhode Island where they resided for about 4 years and increased their
family by 2 more daughters.....The family then moved to Ripley, Brown
County, Ohio, where their last daughter Catherine was born in April 1860,
just prior to the 1860 Census being taken. James was a wagon
maker/carpenter by profession, as were most South West Somerset CHEEK's.....
>From 1861 to 1864 the 6 eldest children, Emma, Sarah Jane, George Henry,
Harriet, Amelia, Samitta?? (Laura) and Ellen left Ripley, Ohio and made
there way back to Providence, Rhode Island where they married, etc......
Louisa & Catherine along with their parents have just disappeared?????
Emma & Sarah Jane married and looked after the younger children along with
their own offspring........so I presume, that their parents were not around
RI, anyway????
George Henry received a letter from his father instructing him not to enter
the Army in the Civil War, however, he took no notice of his father and went
anyway???? He was under age......
WHERE DID THEY GO ????? I'm still looking, looking, searching,
searching........CAN YOU HELP
Any indications would be much appreciated, happy researching

Jonathan Cheek's wife was Lizzie E. Waddell, born April 17, 1862 in Randolph County, NC, married Jonathan on March 17, 1887, and died May 16, 1928 in Moore County, NC. Lizzie had two sisters, Fannie Polk Waddell who was my great-grandmother (8/7/1858- 3/10/1942) who married Jesse Phillips and Mary Rebecca Waddell (2/23/1864-10/17/1946) who never married. Lizzie, Fannie, and Mary's parents were James Waddell (1826-1865) and Mary Caroline Guthrie (5/1/1834-5/11/1896). James was taken prisoner while serving the Confederate Army and taken to Hart Island, New York. He was apparently released at the end of the war, but died before he got back to Moore County. Mary re-married Wiley Duncan Brown and had 5 more children- Kate, George, James, Thomas, and Lela. Hope that gives you some information you didn't have. I would love to hear more if you have further information on my line of our family. Thanks... Ann Graham

Through several moves the past few years, I quit working on our genealogy and just saw your post.
Sam Bohl was my uncle. You must be the son of Shirley Bohl McVicar. Shirley is my cousin. She had Skeeter Bugs craft shop in Santa Maria for awhile. Haven't heard from her in ages.
Please pass my email addy on to her so we can get in touch.
Thanks
Margaret

I am looking for information on Elizabeth Marie THACKER around 1917 in Chatham, Kent (Medway). May have married (?) Walter Prior, sergeant Royal Marines around this time.
Possible connection with Wilton and Salisbury in Wiltshire around 1919.
