I request information about the young lady above...I have been searching for a number of years now.
Catherine CHEEK, daughter of James CHEEK & Maria DUNSCOMBE both of Somerset England, who migrated to USA in 1850's, first residing in Rhode Island then travelling to Ohio were Catherine was born about April 1860 at Ripley, Brown County, Ohio. She is shown there in the 1860 US Census with her siblings, these siblings all came back to Rhode Island.
She disappears until her marriage which is shown in FamilySearch (actual transcription) and here comes the conundrum which I can't unravel to my satisfaction and request help from my American relatives......
The record in the familysearch.org records show: Carrie Bell CHEEK (aged 19 years) daughter of James CHEEK & Maria TUNSCOMB married a Bradford GARDNER on 22.08.1879 at Smithfield, Providence County, Rhode Island. Everything fits and is correct as far as family, age, etc...BUT the name has changed from Catherine to Carrie Bell CHEEK. There is NO record of her or her parents in the 1870 US Census that I can find, perhaps someone can find them for me. some where???
Carrie & husband Bradford are shown in the 1880 US Census as living in Attleboro, Massachusetts, then by my searching she disappears from all records, most frustrating, however, Bradford shows in Providence Business Directories 1883/1905 as being a painter by profession.
They apparently had a son, Frank A GARDNER, born October, 31, 1880 in Attleboro....
Any and all information on the CHEEK/GARDNER famil[ies] would be greatly appreciated

My Silas CHEEK (born 1790 in NC, died July 25, 1849 in New Design, Monroe
Co., IL (cholera epidemic)) had a son named Silas Thompson CHEEK. I've
never been able to figure out where the "Thompson" came from because I've
never been ablt to figure out Silas' parents' names. Silas married Mary
"Polly" Nowlan, 7 children. Any suggestions?
