Molly Cheek is buried by her husband Owen Carpenter in the Enon Methodist Cemetery Carroll County Mississippi. Molly was born 1858 to George A Cheek and Artimissa Elmira Cheek. She married Owen Carpenter 24 Jan 1878 Carroll County. You can see them with their family on the Carroll County Census of 1900. You can also see them in the Carroll County Census of 1880. I also have a family picture of them. Complete with children's names.

I inheirted 3 boxes of my great grandfather's books and in them was our Jeremiah Cheek history which I shared. Possibly I have more history of Cynthia. It will take some time to review his data. I will though and see if I possibly have more info. I don't have it all in the computer. I have a Kirkpatrick ancestor who also married a Craig in Pa to Ohio.

Dear Terry Cheek: I have a feeling that you have this info, but Robert Craig (c1820-18??) married Cynthia Cheek (I think in Dallas County,MO). Robert was my ggg-grandfather. He served in the Civil War and died during that time(I think). He is in the 1850 census for Dallas County, MO, shows his birth as c1813. His birth is listed in the 1860 census as c1820. I would really like to know who his parents were. Do you know? I descend from his son, Robert W. Craig(1862-1942). He is buried at Clear Creek Cemetery near Springfield MO. I hope that this info was helpful. Let me know if I can do anything for you. Please stay in touch. brian in springfield missouri

Message Board Post:
This is just a story to show others how little pieces can add to filling in places on our search for family.
I was doing searches on Ancestry & on a search for an ancestor Uncle named Benjamin Nichols, I found a record on the 1910 census for a 2 yr old grandson named George A. Secor, b. Iowa.
, AHA!
Put on my thinking cap. Benjamin Nichols had 5 children on my record . They were as of my record:
Lena NICHOLS Female 1877-1907 married to George CISCO.
Lottie NICHOLS Female 1880-1891 (only 11 yrs at death)
Minnie NICHOLS Female 1885-1949
Jessie NICHOLS Male 1887 (who had died in Dentists’ chair in Iowa)
Chester NICHOLS Male 1893-1947
Checking on Illinois Marriage Record Index, I found several Minnie NICHOLS, but none married to a ‘Secor’.
OK I thought, now I need a bigger thinking cap.
I did a search for just ‘SECOR’ in the groom list.
BINGO !!!
Andrew M. Secor married to ……….. Jessie E. NICHOLS !!!!!!! (who I had listed as ‘male’)
So I now had – 1. the correct sex for Jessie
2. a middle initial for Jessie
3. a name for her husband, with a date for the marriage license including the license county.
All from just a name of a grandson listed on the census. This is why it is so much fun to do genealogy. I am continually amazed at where “bits & pieces” can lead us.
Sharon in Iowa (But I still need to organized all my little notes, that I have scattered everywhere)
