Joseph Cheek had a sister namedElizabeth Jane Cheek born 1844 in Sequatchie Co.She married Mitchell Lemmon .
He also had a brother named John Cheek born in Sequatchie.
William, and sister named Sarah. In the 1850 census for Marion Co.Ten. You will find Delilah and the children but no Jesse. You will find Delilah and the Children in Sequatchie Co.censu around 1870 and then Delilah or Lilie with her grandchildern. However the only record about Jesse is the marriage, after that you never see him listed only Delilah and she is listed as a widow,so how can he father of all the children. If you have anything please let me.

Yes! that's what I think too, but I haven't been able to find any definite proof. It all fits in though because there don't seem to be any other Williams born around 1744. If it's right we can then go back to John Cheek and Annis Leper married in 1597 which is pretty good!! Are any of your relatives still on the IOW? There are still some there from my part of the family.

The mother Margaret C Cheek d: 1942 and is buried at Tommy Cooper Cemetery in Magoffin Co. Newton Cheek b: 17 Jan 1887 d: 1937 and is also buried at Tommy Cooper Cemetery in Magoffin Co. Now Corbet Cheek d: 1918 and is buried at Mouth of Brushy Creek Cemetery also in Magoffin Co. There are others researching this group who will know more.
This gang lived near the Chandler, Love & Conley Families. If records are intact-- Magoffin Co & Johnson Co. KY and Lee Co., Va is where research needs to be done.
Isiah Cheek should be easy to track down b: 1842-5 in Lee Co., Va and likely married in Lee Co., VA.
Might want to print this help for whoever you are helping--

I am trying to see if Sara is part of my Cheek family. My great-grandfather was William R. Cheek and he lived in the same area as Sara, Russelville, Alabama. I am wondering if they could be brother and sister or maybe cousins. Would love to compare notes.
Hello folks -- I spent the day at the library looking for this family, and
found them in the 1870 - 1920 census of Newburg, Franklin County, Alabama (and
in Saints, Colbert Co., Alabama in 1880). Also, William R. Cheek's father was
identifed as William Cheek b. est. 1820 in Georgia (per the 1880 census).
Here is a summary by census year.
The 1870 census of Newburg, Franklin County, Alabama lists William Cheek 21
(AL), wife Sarah 17 (GA) and mother-in-law Penina Criddle (GA).
The 1880 census of Saints, Colbert County, Alabama lists William R. Cheek 35
(AL), wife Sarah H. 26, daughters Rebecca J. 7, Nancy B. 4, son William W. 2,
father William 60 (GA-SC-SC), and mother-in-law Penina Cradle.
The 1900 census of Newburg, Franklin County, Alabama lists William R. Cheek
born May 1845 age 55, married for 32 years to wife Sarah born Feb 1852 age 48
(mother of 12, 8 living), sons George W. born Jan 1885 age 15, Rogger born Jan
1895 age 4, and daughters Rebecca born Oct 1877 age 22 (a school teacher),
Maggie born Aug 1883 age 16, May born April 1888 age 12, Lillian O. born July
1890 age 9, and Stella C. born Nov 1893 age 6.
The 1910 census of Newburg, Franklin County, Alabama lists William R. Cheek
60, married for 40 years to wife Sarah H. 52, and children Lillian 18, Stella
16 and Roger 13.
The 1910 census of New burg, Franklin County, Alabama lists George W. Cheek
27 (son of William R.), married for 3 years to wife Edyth L. 18 and daughter
Clara E. 1 year 11 months.
The 1920 census of Newburg, Franklin County, Alabama lists a widowed Sarah H.
Cheek 66, living alone.
The 1920 census of Newburg, Franklin County, Alabama lists Roger P. Cheek 24
(son of William R.), wife Essie M. 24 and son John P. Cheek age 3.
- Hope this helps, Jeff Williams

Linda, I have been searching for Rebecca and I do believe this to be her family. I know my Rebecca had two sisters. Only one of them is on the 1880 census. One sister she called Belle and the other sister she called Mae. My mother has told me she thinks Belle is Nancy Belle (like on th census). What is your relative's name? I think we just might be connected. I was going to email you directly but I could figure out if the first letter of your email was an "I" or an "L".
Look forward to hearing from you.

William (1719-1786) did have a son William and a daughter Mary.Since he married in 1744 and William was born around that time it seems likely to me that they were father and son. However, someone I have been in contact with seems to think that William who married Sarah was born in Broadwindsor into a different family altogether. That seems a bit unlikely to me as there is a William born in the IOW at the correct time.
Having said that the William she has married to Sarah was born in 1725 but that doesn't follow from the marriage details.
