I have a Hannah Cheek/Chick on my family tree born in 1788. I don't have a record of her marriage but the age is about right. Her parents were Willaim Cheek and Sarah Rider who were married in 1769 on the IOW

I am attempting to find some type of supporting document, such as a deed, that will tie my Cheek ancestor Saurin W. Cheek with the rest of the Cheek clan of Orange, NC in 1850. He is living next to Alexander Sandy Cheek on the District 1, Orange, NC census of 1850. My gut tells me that this is a son or possibly a brother, but I haven't found the proof. Has any researching Orange NC Cheeks run across a deed or other document mentioning a Saurin or Laurin Cheek?
He appears to have died by 1860. His daughter Aurilla Emma Cheek was moved to Arkansas with an Aunt by that census.
If someone has such a document, I will gladly pay copy costs.
Thanks

I am seeking the parents of Silas CHEEK (my 4th gr-grandfather). He mar. Mary "Polly" ? in ?. She was also born in NC abt 1794. After he left NC, he must have stopped off in TN or KY, as his first 4 children (per the 1850 & 1860 IL census) state they were born in TN (1850) or KY (1860). Names: John, b. 1809; Jane, b. 1818; Delitha Ann., b. 1824; and Silas, b. 1826.
NOTE: John & Silas came to IL at the same time and because of John's birth date being so many years before Silas' children's birth dates, he may be his younger brother.
After Silas & Mary "Polly" came to IL, 3 more children were born: Rachel, b. 1829; Isaiah, b. 1831; and William H., b. 1832.
Silas died in Monroe Co., IL, July 25, 1840, "aged about 60", of cholera. Mary "Polly" died sometime between the 1850 & 1860 censuses.
Does anyone out there have any knowledge of Silas' parentage? Who "Mary/Polly" is?
I have much info. on the IL lines and will be glad to share.
Thanks, Janet
P.S. I descend thru Delitha Ann, m. 1) Isaac Clark II and 2) Lewis Barker.

I am descended from Elizabeth T. Cheek b. 1808 NC, family went to Cape Girardeau, MO about 1812. Elizabeth married Hiram Lee in Cape. Gir. in 1827 "consent of both parents". The most likely connection to other Cheeks in the area is Randolph and Sarah Cheek, poss. her parents. There is a marriage record of Randall Cheek m. Sarah Knowlin in Mecklenburg N.C. in 1807, the surety was "Felty" Cheek. About the time Randall goes to MO. Felty goes to Giles Co. TN, he later administers his father Randolph's will there. Felty ends up in Texas. I am trying to make the connection between Felty and Randoll of MO. Anyone else working on these lines....I can share 30+ years of research. Hope to hear from you.
