Mary:
I do not have any proven data back of Gazaway Cheek of Forsyth County,
GA.
One source tells me (unproven) that the father of Gazaway was John Cheek,
b 3 June 1774 in Spartenberg, SC. This source said Gazaway had a brother
named Franklin and a sister named Sarah. Also John's father was reported
to be William C. Cheek b 2 June 1741 on the East Cherokee Reservation of
SC. William was supposed to have been a full blooded Cherokee with large
herds of cattle and horses and 21 black slaves. His wife was also
Cherokee as was Gazaway's wife.
Does any of this match any of you data?
Happy Holidays and,
Stay safe, buddy.

The other children were Richard, Robert, James, Randolph (B: ca 1737 M; ?Van
Hooten), Jane, Anne, William & John B. I know very, very little about the

Thank you John. Yes, I found it very interesting.
A few years ago I was researching a Burney/Cheek line. Richard Cheek, born CA 1692 VA, married Jane ? (some say she was a Randolph) . His will was probated in 1745 in Orange Co NC.
They had 9 children one of whom, Elizabeth, married John Burney (my Line). The other children were Richard, Robert, James, Randolph (B: ca 1737 M; ?Van Hooten), Jane, Anne, William & John B. I know very, very little about the other children.
I would very much like to know more about the other childen. What little I know is not validated. The Randolph in your piece might have been a grandchild of Richard and Jane. Interesting.
If you have any other information about this Cheek line would appreciate anything you have.
Mary
Wondering if anyone knows of this family ... father is probably Stephen H
Cheek ... census data of the clan points to Nashville, Davidson Co, Tn, but born
in Alabama ... have rec'd copies of their family bible indirectly, and am
trying to figure out who are the parents of this early Stephen H Cheek. Would
love to hear from you ... Jeff Williams, Plymouth, MI PilgrimPress(a)aol.com ....

Hello Mary Ann, Please forgive me in not getting right back to you but I have been away ( visiting and out about my Fathers business). You asked if I have the marriage records for Great GrandMother Susan CHEEK and no I don't, but hope to soon!! Susan CHEEK married Elijah WHITENER and are the parents of MeMa( GrandMa), Sarah WHITENER UNDERWOOD. They were in the Bollinger Co. and Madison Co.,MO. Susan's father was James H. CHEEK from KY. I haven't unpacked my genealogy papers or much of anything, as of yet. I know this isn't what you wanted but drop me a line in a few weeks and I should have that info for you.
