My name is Linda Cheeks Pittano. I am interested in attending the Cheeks
gathering in Texas. I vote for 2005. The reason is that I am already
committed for the Clay Gathering in 2004. If you need any help, let me know.
I'll be glad to help with ideas.
Linda
Hello there Cheek/Cheke cousins,
I'm collecting information for all of the CHEEK family surname in North
Carolina and the United States (and Cheke family of early Isle of Wight /
Pirgo, England).
So far I have collected data on over 2,000 CHEEK North Carolina / US
individuals and would very much appreciate any and all contributions from
the folks out there.
Please feel free to view/critique my CHEEK (and many other surnames)
website site at:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=pilgrim2press I
However, if you do have contributions, comments or corrections, please
address them to my personal email instead of filling up these mailing lists
(email: PilgrimPress(a)aol.com) ... Thanks again. - Jeffrey Lewis Williams
PS - I have also written a book on the NC CHEEK (and associated) families
"Lore and Legacy: A History of the Cheek, Sale and Sparks Families" ... the
book's website is at: http:/www.thepilgrimpresss.homestead.com/homestead.html
... but does not include all of the CHEEK members from my rootsweb site.
Thanks, JLW

I am looking for the following relatives:
CECIL Clarence Cheek (1912) from Belleville, IL. ( My Grandfather) born in Arkansas.
His father CHARLES Plemen Cheek (1873) from Belleville, IL. (from family Bible) married to Ella Wiggins.
Charles's father was HENRY Clay Cheek (1850) from Eldorado, IL. married to Isabella Sanders. Found at Eldorado Library.
Henry's father was JAMES Cheek (1808) from Sumner County Tennessee married to a Margaret Carroll. Found in 1880 census.
I know the family came from Tennessee, moved to Arkansas and Illinois. I can't find anything past James Cheek. Does anyone know about this line of Cheek's? I will share what info. I have. Thank You, Lana

I don't know him personally, but my brother Horace lives in Buleson south of Fort Worth which I believe those symbols FTW mean. i will have him look in the local phone directory or you might go online to whitepages.com and look for yourself, it is free. I also have a nephew that is a Police officer in Fort Worth and I will ask him to inquire if you can't find him.

Sorry about the bad spelling on the last posting. I had a terrible headache and was tryig to hurry to lye down. I still would like to get all of the Cheek Families together here in Dallas Possibly in April to September of 2004 or 2005. Can you imagine how great it would be to have all of us here exchanging information with one another. What a glorious time we could have. If i could have some assistance, We could get some great rate on hotel rooms and discounts at resturants maybe go to SIX FLAGS with your young ones. Dances for the old one Tours and all sort of things could be planned. But the best part would be the knowledge that we could gather from one another. PLEASE, PLEASE come on down and lets do this for the FAMILY. Cheeks Rock on you Know!!!!
From Jeffrey Lewis Williams:
As the son of a Cheek daughter, and part-time author of a few Cheek genealogy
books, I would enjoy the opportunity to meet with all of our Cheek families.
I'd also like a favor (which might help us all) ... this month I've added an
additional 500 Cheek entries into my database ... and I'd really appreciate
it if all the Cheek clans out there could "critique" my data ... let me know
where I've screwed up, etc ... I have approx 1,700 Cheek family members on my
listing now ... thanks so much, my genealogy website is at:

Sounds like a good idea. I know it takes a lot of time to plan. I am on the
newly formed Clay Family Society and we started work on our Gathering in 2004
in late June of 2002. I would be interested in it for sure. Let me know what
others think.

God be with you all.
Hello folks,
As many of the "regulars" of this mail-list know, I research the
Sale-Sparks-Cheek-Stimson-Wellman surnames. Based upon the 2000 US Census
data for Surname Frequency, and the equivalent database in the United
Kingdom, I have calculated (an estimated) current number of living persons
for each of these surnames ... these are just estimates, but may be of
interest to you ... best in researching, Jeff Williams ...

Lou Dell Miller Cheek, b 17 March 1928 could be the key to a brick wall. Her father, Gus C. Miller, b 15 Nov 1889, married to Arrie A. Golightly (b 12 Aug 1891, d 30 Oct 1979) on 27 Feb 1910 is my g grandfather's( Samuel Lynch Thompson) nephew. This has been a brick wall to me for many years. It's like Samuel Lynch just dropped from the sky. Any information you might have on Gus C. Miller's mother, Mary Priscilla Thompson, b 11 Oct 1864, d 20 April 1939, would be greatly appreciated. I have information on Samuel Lynch Thompson's descendants which I would gladly share.
Thank you.
