Dearest Cousin,
I know that my Great Greand father and his second wife and all of his children came to Texas from Decatur County, Indiana in the 1870s. However there is the name of a Cheek engravedon the San Jacinto Monument who fought in that battle with Sam Houston to win Texas Independence from Mexico. Im am not sure when he arrived, but it had to 1836 or before. I am not sure of your relatives but i wouldn't mind sharing what information that I have if it will help.

Hello Jeff, I wanted to say a Big THANK YOU for sharing with us your hard
work on CHEEK Families and other surnames, I have been at a stand still for
some time with my GGrandmother, Susan Cheek that married Elijha WHITENER in
Bollinger Co., MO.. and you had her there, same info as I have but it was
good just seening the information about her father and family. I do have a
problem with finding a Sophia CHEEK that married an UNDERWOOD, (his first
name is unknown to me as of yet) she may be relateded to Susan..but Susan's
dau. Sarah WHITENER married Sophia's son Enoch UNDERWOOD..I think they were
sisters, not so uncommon in that day in Bollinger Co., and Madison and
Marquand and Marble Hill were right there next to each other.. If by chance
you have some of this information tucked away, could you share it with me
please?? Thank you again for sharing what you have already shared.
Sincerely.

Sincerely,

The 1880 Bollinger Co. MO census has Suffiah age 18? married to Carter Underwood age 21. They are listed in the Crooked Creek Township page 435 and are near several other Underwoods, Sitzes families on the same page. This could be your Sophia. I don't have anything else on this family.

Hi Jeannie:
Well there was a Tom in the family, who did have a daughter named Jeanne (sp). He had a son named Tommy also. And they did live in the LA area - could have been San Fernando. The time frame matches pretty good - my grandmother got to CA sometime in the 30's and most of the rest of the family migrated there about that time. I have a picture of Tom Cheek posted on my family website if this would be of interest to you.
