Hello there,
I've just added 400 new Cheek individuals (out of 1,400 Cheek names from
Surry, Wilkes, Yadkin, NC, etc) from Alleghany County, to my database on
Rootsweb. The website may take a day or two to be updated, but here is my
site's link: <A

... if you have any new / additional information, I would really appreciate
your emailing me at either MITNWVNC(a)aol.com or PilgrimPress(a)aol.com ... also,
here is my newly published 508 page book's website ("Lore and Legacy: A
History of the Cheek, Sale and Sparks Families" - Second Edition) -- but keep
in mind it does NOT have any Alleghany County, NC Cheeks in it (my apologies)

I have a little information - he could be my grandfather as well. What was your mother's name? My father had two sisters. They came from Arkansas and Texas to California in the 30's - originally to San Fernando and then to Santa Maria. That's when I lost track. I am attempting to locate anyone from my father's family. His name was Tommy. Please reply.

Harold--
There are others researching your Richard C. Cheek b:c1832, son of Richard Cheek b: c 1797 NC who lived in Tishomingo Co., Miss. There is a Dale Cheek and a Gwen Hardin--- both it seems researching your line. Try GenForum as I recall.
Seems some of them are researching a Brook Cheek
(age 75 in 1850 Tishomingo Co., Miss. household of Silas Cheek) yet it looks more like a Broar or Droar than a Brook Cheek. Anyway, search for Silas Cheek and you'll locate more on Tishomingo Co., Miss.
Happy Hunting!
After finding some new information on my Cheek line, I was wondering if
anyone lays claim to the following people?
Voters List 1909-1910 In Ok
Danl Cheek Bluejacket, Ok
Elbert Cheek Bluejacket, Ok
George Cheek Bluejacket, Ok
John Cheek Bluejacket, Ok
Tom Cheek Welch , Ok
I also found on military draft
1 Thomas Elbert Cheek Chetopa, Ks age 41
I know this is grasping at straws but I am trying to figure out if this is
my Elbert Cheek from Ga who disappeared after 1880. Any help appreciated.
Martha

Well, not sure if it is part of our family or not. I would need more information. Your grandfather's full name and the name of his parents and the dates of birth would help.

Hi, My Henry Alvis Cheek was born 1828 so it is doubtful that he is the same, as I am sure you have surmised. However, I don't doubt the possibility the name was handed down as you suggest. His father, however, was Robert Cheek born around 1800. This was the Robert, by the way, married to Martha Sykes and then Rebecca Whitlock. At this point, I know of no other Alvis Cheek's in the family prior to 1831.

I'm trying to find Alvis Cheek of Orange Co. NC. He was the bondsman for the marriage of John Workman and Margaret Cheek(my GGGgrandparents)in 1831 Orange Co.NC. I thought the name Alvis might have been handed down.
Hello there,
For those of you interested in the Sale, Sparks, Pardue or Cheek surnames
in the Wilkes, Surry or Yadkin County areas of NC, I have recently added many
family's data from the 1880, 1900 and 1920 census' to my rootsweb family tree
(it'll be updated within 24 hrs on rootsweb's system):
<A HREF="http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=pilgrim2press">
RootsWeb: Lore & Legacy: A History of the Cheek, Sale and Sparks</A>
In the past, I have added only those families where I knew their
connection "to the main branch". This time however, I've added all of those
families whose data I took down, although I didn't know their connections to
the main branch.
If, after searching through my rootsweb link, you find "your" families,
I'd really appreciate any additional information (or corrections) you could
provide me. Feel free to email me at MITNWVNC(a)aol.com (it stands for
Michigan-Tennessee-West Virginia-North Carolina). Thanks much, Jeff Williams
