Hi Sarah,
If you email me at timworrall at tiscali.co.uk, we can share and compare what information we have. I think we will probably know more about the checkleys than me.
Best wishes, Tim.

Dear Sarah,
My gg grandfather was Jonas Checkley born South Newington about 1837. His father was Thomas born Mollington 1794 and likey a brother of your Jonas born South Newington about 1814. Thomas's father was likely John Checkley born Great Bourton about 1771 and mother Elizabeth White. John is the child of John and Mary. There are are two marriages for John Checkley to a Mary Checkley and a Mary Basely 1862 and 1870 in Cropredy and I'm unsure which would be the right one. I can provide some more details about Thomas Checkley and his descendants.
with best wishes, Tim.

Edward Checkley was my great grandfather and he did move to Ontario where he died. I have his brother in the 1841 census (England) in South Newington, Wooten, Oxfordshire. I believe he was married to Rhoda Hadland at the time he was in Canada, and later married Mercy Craythorne (do not know what happened to Rhoda). He lived in Walsall, Staffordshire, when he went back to England and I show he died between Oct-Dec 1914. I am willing to share the info I have with you if you will contact me at Claussen2(a)cox.net.
