I am wondering if there is info that General Benjamin Franklin Cheatham (b. c1820) of Tennessee had a sister named Margaret?
I have a Margaret, married to Moses H. RISENER. Moses paid taxes in Warren County, Tennessee in 1836 & 1838, and was enumerated on the 1840 & 1850 census records for Coffee County, Tennessee. Moses was a Justice of the Peace in Coffee County in 1868, and has died before 1870.
The children of Margaret & Moses were Martha (married a Thacker), Jasper N., Thomas C. (fought in Civil War), Elizabeth, Susan Oregon (married a Hensley), Speaker, Franklin Cheatham & Michael A. (married Susan Sheid).
Franklin Cheatham Risener was born c1852. Could Margaret have named this son after her brother?
Thank you,
Juli

I am looking for any information on African-American Cheathams of the Richmond, Chesterfield County or Henrico County, Virginia area. My grandfather was Joseph Cheatham (d. 1981). He supposedly had several brothers and one sister. He was cared for by his nephew, Willie Cheatham, until his death. My father, Herbert Sr., migrated to Newark, New Jersey. Any and all information is welcome.

Requesting any slave records/documents/information concerning slaves owned by the Henry Clay Cheatham family of Hempstead County, Arkansas and Hays County, Texas from 1844 thru emancipation. Oral family history states that my ggrandfather "Monroe" (b. 1844) was a slave owned by this Cheatham family and according to the 1860 Hays County, Texas slave census a 16 year old male slave was part of the families slaveholdings. I strongly suspect this 16 year old to be my ggrandfather. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
