Trying to do a Census lookup in the state of Arizona and I came across this
family. Thought it might connect so here it is:
1910 Census, Duncan, Graham Co, Arizona
sheet 14 A , lines 16-20
Birth
Parents
Name Age State Born
Cheatham, William C. 58 Texas Tenn
Mary M. 50 Texas Tenn
Shelton(?)C 22 Texas Texas
Delilah T. 20 Texas Texas
Lenard C. 18 Texas Texas
Hope this helps someone. I show know records on my Cheathams being in Tenn
but suspect they spread from the Carolinas which would make a connection.

Becky, Did you get my e-mail? My address was at the top. Just send message's to my pc. We can only go back as far as I sent you. I can take you forward from Elizabeth's family after she married Martin Vent. Did I not send the full list we have to you? In case I didn't, I'll resend it.
Hi Listers,
I am looking for any information, pictures or papers concerning the CHEETHAM
family of Lenton, Dunkirk and Beeston. Also information about their families
would be appreciated.
My great great great grandparents were William and Frances CHEETHAM of
Dunkirk Farm. After the death of William in 1872, Frances took over has head
of the family and is listed in 1881 as "farmer of 61 acres employing 1 man
and 1 boy." After Frances's death in 1882 the land was sold for building
development.
Their son, Henry, my great great grandfather, was a farm bailiff and his
brother, George, was a farmer at Radford Marsh not far from Lenton.
My great grandmother, Elizabeth CHEETHAM, married John CHAPLIN, a skin yard
worker some time between the 1881 and 1891 census. John died some time after
1899 and Elizabeth married James CAREY.
Annie CHEETHAM, my great great aunt married Richard Pickering SELBY, son of
John SELBY who was landlord of the Town Arms on Willoughby Street for many
years.
Richard later had his own business as a finings maker, also on Willoughby
Street, before eventually taking over as landlord at the Town Arms.
My grandmother Florence Gertrude CHAPLIN was born at 100 Dunkirk Road in
1899.
Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Pat,
Please e-mail me any information you have found on Laura and I will send you copies of everything I have documented. My mom didn't remember her and this is one of the many mysteries I've been trying to solve. My own grandmother was named Laura Pearl probably after Laura Vent. I have the Vent name spelled this was according to my mother but most of the records I have found show it as Vint. One of the biggest mysteries is my greatgrandmother Josephine was part native american according to everyone's account. This means it is not possible that Martha Morris was her mother Elizabeth Louisa's mother but I can find no explanation for this. I appears quite certain that Joseph Cheatham of Obion Co., TN was her father. Another possibility is that the native american was on the Vint side but that is looking even more unlikely. I have some pictures of Josephine I can e-mail you. Do you have any of Laura? Thanks, Jan

Hi Jan, I have never heard of George being Aunt Etter's son' Robert O. (Buster) Waddle's. Of course that is something most of the family would not talk about if it were so. I don't judge them if it is, but sure do feel sorry for Adeline if it is. Laura was my mother's Aunt. Laura married a Finch, don't know his name. Floy, Hardin, and George Finch were their children. Get you on the e-mail side.

Pat, I have quite a bit of information and alot more speculation. You are welcome to e-mail me at mimixtwo(a)yahoo.com for more details. My grandmother was named Laura Pearl Vines, she was the daughter of Josephine (Vent), Byler, Vines. Josephine was the daughter of Martin Vent and Loisa Cheatham. I do have record her sisters Martha Jane Vent married to Henry Waddle. Mary Elizabeth married James Henry Best, Josephine married Alec Byler and second Enoch Vines, Willie Ann married Presley Nelms, Etta Vent was unmarried, Laura Vent is ?????????? We have speculated that Adeline is Laura?????????? I was told by my mother now 84 that Etta lived with Adeline and had a child by Adeline's husband. Anyway, I am trying to go to Ark. and Kentucky in late Sept. to a family reunion. Maybe I can get more information then. Does this help? Jan

Jan, Did Laura marry twice? I have a Floy, dead now, whose last name was Finch. Floy had two brothers, George and Hardin (Hardy). They are both dead along with their children. Cleo, Freda, Ellen and another son. Cleo was killed in the war. Aunt Floy always said her mother died young. We have Floy in the household of George and Adeline(Vent) Waddle about 1920. Also her brothers living with Jane (Vent) and Henry Waddle.

This is what I have so far. I believe in my original message that James was the second husband of Eliza. He was her first and Plummer was the second. James Cheatham died between 1855-1859 and they were married about 1851. Plummer was born June 1, 1829 and died 1913. Eliza was born October 1, 1828 in Giles City, TN and died March 13, 1904. Both Eliza and Plummer died in Marion County, Alabama and are buried in New Hope Baptist Cemetery, Marion County, Alabama. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Thanks a bunch.
