My Mothers family are Jenkins(fathers side) and Cheathams(mothers side)from Louisiana.
Ethel,
Guthridge Cheatham Jr was born in S.C. and then moved to Alabama and his
children were born there.
My records show his children started in 1840 and at least his daughter Susan
Mildred Cheatham Bussey,
my GGrandmother, moved to Texas. My information says they owned slaves.
Hope this might be of some help to you.
Shirley Benson Barber
Hi, Do you have any information on whether or not these CHEATHAMs or their
relatives had slaves?
My great grandmother on my father's maternal side was ANN CHEATHAM who
married MARTIN PERRY. They were brought to Texas sometime in the
mid-1800's.
Thanks for any info you can give me.
Ethel Craven-Sweet

Sandra, do you have a listing of the Reddoch Family Cem and Sarah Ann Sephronia Cheatham's tombstone? her birth and death I have is only estimated (1833-1866).
And, by the way, I have just finished an updated 2002 census of Myrtlewood Cemetary in Fort Deposit... if anyone needs a look-up, let me know... I am sending it along soon for the Lowndes County Historical Society to publish, but until then, feel free to ask.
